Hi - I have a few issues with using my B2.

When using the original web UI, after an artist is chosen and an album selected, often the incorrect album then displays below.

When an album is selected to play, selected tracks often stop playing mid track and the following track starts. However when just that track is selected to play it more often plays through correctly. It also seems to work better when playing from a playlist.

Can these issues be the result of internet drop out or an unstable wi-fi network?

On the new web UI page - is there a way of selecting Sonos speakers or rooms?

Many thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

Try running 'Scan Disk' (from front panel run 'Settings' --> 'Scan Disk') which should run in a few minutes, and then see if the problem still exists.

Regards,
Peter.

Hi Ian,

Further to Peter's suggestion, check the WiFi signal at the B2 - use the front control to go to Settings >> Maintenance >> WiFi Strength. It needs to be around the -50dBm mark (-40dBm is a stronger signal and -60dBm a weaker one) for reliable operation.

You could also try closing the current web UI page >> clearing browser data - select 'cached images and files' for Chrome and 'Delete history and website data' for Safari >> open a new browser page >> enter the IP from the B2 by hand rather than using a bookmark.

Hi Ian,

Also meant to say that Sonos is only accessible from the 'original' UI currently.

Paul - The strength of the wi-fi signal is around 70dBm - but being only 4mtrs away from the router, I'm not sure if it can be improved - maybe hardwire it?

Hi Ian,
A signal strength of -70 is almost certainly going to be problematic.  Here is the standard advice for improving the situation:

Your signal strength should be better than -50 (-40 being better, -60 being worse) and not fluctuate wildly.
To improve your signal strength, try the following:
Move your B2 closer to your router.
Switch the WiFi dongle to USB C.
Move your WiFi dongle to the end of a USB extension cable.  (This might be beneficial in your case.)
You can buy a new WiFi dongle that has an antenna.  Look for one that has the RT5370 chipset.  (This may be the best solution, short of switching to a wired ethernet connection.

If you do install an ethernet cable, be sure and remove the WiFi dongle.

Hi Ian,

Yes if only 4 meters form the Router then Hard Wire it you will not regret doing so. The Ethernet Jack is accessed by opening the back of the B2 (this will not invalidate your warranty the B2 is meant to be opened - just undo the top 2 back screws and don't pull the back out more than 4 cm.), most of us install a whiptail extension to avoid doing this again if we move the unit - or - you can use an USB Ethernet adapter (and a setting on the front panel to load the driver for one of these).

-70 is not good enough for a B2 you need to be -50 or less.

Hi Ian,

You can also use a USB-Ethernet adapter as an alternative.
