I am contemplating purchasing a B2 so I can play my CD's on my existing Sonos systems. I am very tech illiterate so sorry if this a stupid question. My Sonos is apparently a Sonos OS S1 running on Version 11.2.13. It consists of 2 Play 1's, 2 Play 3's, 1 One SL and 1 Playbar (+Sub+LS+RS). Are there wires or ethernet cords that connect the B2 to the Sonos system or is the connection simply by being on the same w-fi? I am thinking some kind of wired connection would be more stable? Hope you can help.
Thanks
Tom

I don't have Sonos, so I have no first hand advice for you.  However, there is a good bit of info about that on the Brennan website:  NAS and Sonos
After you've digested that, if there's anything that is still unclear, there will be folks here who can explain it further - although probably not me. ;o)

Thanks Fred.
I have looked at a lot of the threads and gone over the one you sent. I am again very UN-tech savvy so only 50% makes sense to me. I am googling all the terms and initials to try to make better sense of it. I am getting that for the most part the Sonos is getting its "feed" via wi-fi. My router (Luxul aBR-4400) is in the middle of my condominium with concrete walls separating it and my home entertainment center where my Sonos main equipment is. I have ethernet wired from the modem/router ran to the entertainment center since the wi-fi at the entertainment center is not the best and the ethernet doesn't loose signal when watching TV or running the internet.
1. Is there a way to connect the internet of the B2 to the Sonos in my entertainment cabinet without having to rely on the B2 using the wi-fi? If so, is there any downside to this?
2. Are there any YouTube video's on hooking up and setting this all up?
3. When I originally had this system done (2016) I had a multdisc cd player hooked up to a Sonos connect that I guess converted it from analog to digital or something. After 5 years the Sonos connect went bad that I replaced and then one month after that the cd player died. That is why I am trying to find a system that will replace what I had. B2 seems like it has lots of advantages if it will connect to what I have and with my wi-fi signal not being that strong in the entertainment cabinet BUT with having a wired ethernet there.

Hope all that makes  a little sense and hope you can help a dummy like me.
Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,

Short answers to your questions for the moment
1) Yes the B2 has an Ethernet socket internally. You have to take the back off to get to it (there are holes for the cable exit cut into the back). Removing the back does NOT invalidate warranty. See here for the instructions to do this and et at the Ethernet port. Many of us insert a short ethernet spur out of the B2 so that we do not have to go back in if we need to move the unit. Ethernet connectivity is the BEST connection you can give a B2. I presume your Sonos Speakers are all happy with the WiFi connections they have round your home (or are they all in the entertainment centre?)
2)Yes look here
3) I do not think you will need the Sonos Connect. The B2 also has an internal front loading CD player.  With the B2 the idea is that you load all your music collection on to it and then (provided you have a backup of the B2s music holdings in a safe place) you do not need to deal with CDs ever again, you just use the Brennan to play everything to your Sonos setup (in your case).

If you get a B2 then after connecting/setting it up your first project will be to get all your music collection onto it - (lots of advice discussion on the forum) and once this one off project is complete you will from then on be able to enjoy just
listening to your music with ease, controlling this from your phone or, Pc or tablet connected to your house WiFi. ( so you will need a WiFi signal for these from where you "sit")
