Hi.

Still in the process of loading my cds onto the B2. Just inserted a Jerry Garcia disc and it didn't load properly, made a funny noise and now will not eject. Have tried the upside down trick suggested but no joy.

Advice please.

Thanks, Mike

You could try Settings > Maintenance > Reset CD

Hi Andy. Tried that several times. Says CD is empty but it definitely is not.

Hi Mike,

I remember reading someone suggested doing a software upgrade - they said that after the B2 rebooted the CD was ejected. Worth a try.

Failing that, please email us on thebre...@gmail.com (the  brennan  b2  (at)  gmail  .  com) saying the CD is stuck and we will get back to you.

Mike

There was a tip awhile ago about turning the B2 on its side, turning on/off/on and the cd would eject.  This happened to me a couple of times, when I did turn it on its
side,it did eject the cd.  Hope the info helps

Best Regards
Keith Conrad

Thanks Keith. No joy. I think part of the problem is that it thinks the CD drive is empty. I'll email support now.

Mike,
Just looked here and found this thread as I was having the same issue.  Has happened before, but the "turn it on it's side" trick always worked for me.  Not this time.  Tired all the other suggestions here, too.  Turned it off, put it on it's side and turned it on, "thumping" it gently with the side of my hind.  It popped out this time.  Decided to stick with an external drive plugged into the USB on back.

Thumped it with the side of my hand - not my hind!

This worked for me a year ago - since I did it the problem never recurred. I think the front of the B2 was very slightly misaligned and this fixed it.(Hope I haven't jinxed it LOL)
"After trying every other suggestion in this group with no success I finally tried this.
I followed the instructions to remove front panel contained in the pdf found here https://www.brennan.co.uk/imagprod/BrennanB2HardDriveUpgrade.pdf
Replaced SD Card and powered up with panel removed (CAREFULLY) and the cd shot out of drive.
Powered down removed sd card replaced panel and reassembled."

I tried all those trick and the CD is still stuck in the drive and the B2 does not know it is there.  The problem is that the disk is upside down.  Is there any more trick I could try to eject it if it doe not think it is there.  I tried the "Reset CD" option under Settings and all it did was reboot the B2.  Is this something I can fix or do I have to send it to Brennan?  Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.

I think some folks have found success if they turn off the power, wait at least 30 seconds, and then turn it on again.  It might eject the CD on power up.

Hi Herb,

I had a B2 with a CD stuck in the drive, after being inserted upside down, sent to our service agent and they told me the CD ejected immediately after powering the unit on. So leave it a while (perhaps a day), jiggle it around a bit (to simulate being delivered by Parcel Force) and power on.

This is not to do with the CD ejection problem but it seems a reasonable addition to the posts. On my laptop I’ve just merged a two CD set (a piano trio was split between the two discs.) I’ve only done once this before when a CD wouldn’t rip on the B2. This time on the Ui on my iPad, which is what I  use, there appeared an empty folder and I couldn’t get the tracks inside. I realised later by chance that the whole merged album had all its tracks inside when I looked at the Brennan web UI on the laptop. It was still empty on the iPad   until I thought to switch it off. Once on again all the merged tracks are there.
PMB is always reminding us that simply switching on and off can be helpful.

I had the same problem a couple of times, the solution that worked for me was when I had a Cd stuck in the Brenan first I turned off then pressing the eject button I turned it on, the Brennan ejected the CD.
Hope this helps

"pressing the eject button" -- or do you mean HOLDING the eject button in a pressed position? (Usually "pressing" a button is taken to mean press briefly then release -- if the power is off that might not do anything at all.)

Hi Mark,

I saw a note some time ago in the forum that with the B2 powered off, then press and hold the 'Eject' button while powering the B2 up, this might cause the CD to be ejected.  I haven't been able to verify this as I have not had a 'jammed CD yet.

Regards,
Peter.

Yes Mark , you are correct it is Holding the eject button in a pressed position.
Thanks for the clarification

Had this problem when I inserted a CD into the B2 while also having a USB connected CD drive (no disc in that drive).  It seems the 'eject' button in that configuration only attempts to command the external CD drive; not the internal one.  Disconnecting the external CD drive and restarting the B2 resolved the issue.  Must remember...

Brand new B2!  The very first CD inserted loaded correctly, ripped correctly, then would not eject.  I have tried every trick found on this forum and on other places - the  drive makes ejecting sounds, but nothing comes out.  I assume I will need a new CD drive, unless someone has better idea.

I don't see my successful method for extraction in here, so here goes:  Attach a USB drive to slot "c" as if to copy or back-up your HD and the mechanism lets the disc go.  I have had TWO cd drives in this unit and that's the only way I have been able to extract my discs from either drive.  None of the other suggestions have worked (holding the button when powering up, turning the unit on its side, etc. etc.)

Hi jbola,

If the drive is making noises and is attempting to eject the CD I wonder if something is physically stopping it. Try removing the front panel (there are four screws on the underside of the unit), move the front panel out of the way (the grey ribbon cable should be long enough), power up and try eject.

This won't affect your warranty.

Thanks for that fix!!  I tried all other potential fixes on this thread with no luck.  I powered down, inserted a thumb drive into USB C, powered up and the CD popped right out.  Thanks again.
