Hi

I am a poor indie game developer, I just require simple animations for my characters but and I am interested in Brekel as a solution. I have a couple of questions

1. Are there any examples of the overall quality of the capture?
2. Does Brekel tidy up animation jitter?
3. How is the bridge between Unity3D and Brekel implemented? You say C# script, but what modifications would I need to make for my game characters?
4. Is there any online documentation I can read before purchase?
5. Is source code available?

Thanks for your time.
Ross.

Hi Ross,

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, you can find example files on the download pages, here's links for Body v1 and v2:

2. Yes, all the software comes with custom developed filters specifically designed for filterering body/face data.
You can view the results in realtime in the viewport (and network streams), filtering parameters can be adjusted and they can be turned off in case you'd rather do that in your favorite 3D animation application.

3. For recorded files you usually simply load them as FBX files in your favorite 3D animation application, do retargeting, motion editing etc and export to Unity as usual.
For realtime streaming the C# script comes in, which handles all the difficult networking stuff and applies the rotational data to an example skeleton.

4. PDF documentation is included witht the installers, you can also download them separately from the links in question 1

5. No, except for the Unity scripts/shaders this is not open source software.

Btw, if you want me to set you up with a full evaluation version just drop me a personal email with which apps/versions you want to test.

Greets,

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have managed to obtain 360 Kinnect sensor off a friend so I can play around with some rudimentary mocap and see what results I can produce.

For my characters, I already have plenty of locomotive animations which I can use, I am looking for more bespoke animations which would not involve moving too much from one spot. I have tried IK with generic animations but it never looks quite correct.

If it's successful I'll buy a Kinnect 2 sensor and go from there.

Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on that.
