Hello everyone,
After years using IPI Mocap to make my animations, i've decided to start use kinect pro body 2, but seems like the rig isn't compatible in Unity 5. In Blender i can see animation pretty good but when i export FBX and import inside unity animation start to go mad. Anyone already found a good pipeline to import in Unity 5? If yes please help me out.
Kind Regards,
Francesco Albamonte.

Hmmm, it was tested and fine tuned with Unity4 Mecanim during the my public beta last year, I simply assumed it still worked with Unity 5 as I haven't heard it didn't yet.

Does it work when importing an animation straight from Brekel Pro Body v2?
I understand you want to edit things in Blender but this may indicate if there's something wrong with the base rig or that the problem is caused by going through Blender first.

Hello! Yes, even importing FBX straight from Pro Body 2 the problem persist. I usually set animation as Humanoid to use with mecanim, maybe i have to set it in a different way?

I'm not an expert in this area of Unity, can you share a file and describe "start to go mad" so I can analyze it?

The sample FBX file seems to work for me in Unity 5. (Mecanim Humanoid)

You could try fiddling with the "Rotation Filter" and "Constant Key Reducer", but it's weird that an export from Blender also generates problems.

Hello, testing more pipelines i found the solution, just needed to export from blender as FBX v6.1 Ascii. Everything works good as i expected.
thanks again for help.

Hey Francesco,
so you have to go over Blender or can you still go directly from Pro Body v2 to Unity5 ,  I didn't buy the software yet and this is what is holding me off , I need a simple working solution , can Pro Body v2 save the FBX v6.1 Ascii  ?
did you try it out.

Thank you in advance

Oh yes it can record directly to the FBX format which should be readable directly in Unity without going through a 3D animation application first.
It's just that this may limit your toolset for retargeting and motion editing a bit compared to going through an external animation appllication or something like Ikinema webanimate, that's all.

You can download free sample files here so you can test things out.
If you already own a sensor there's also a free trial on that same page.
