Ipretty much always have a boxed cake mix on hand, they usually only cost about a $1, and can come in super handy! I usually keep Chocolate for those cravings that seem to appear out of nowhere, when you have a house with so many females it is important to be prepared!

In this TikTok hack, Karly Stoddard shows you how to take a box of cake mix and turn it into wonderfully delicious cupcakes. There only a few tweaks to make it happen! She happens to have her own baking business, so she knows what she is doing.

Follow the instructions for mixing and baking that are on the box. Once they are finished baking, try to calm yourself and let them cool down! When they have cooled down, then you can get to decorating these babies up!

I add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour and 1 cup of sour cream, to a cake mix besides what the box directions call for. Plus extra vanilla, this makes a wonderful & delicious cake with any cake mix! It makes a 913 a full pan, several more cupcakes also!!

When making aWhite Cake can you use ANISE EXTRACT instead of Almond or Vanilla Extract and if you do how much Anise Extract would you use to get the flavor of ItalianCookies(Anise) and would you use the ANISE EXTRACT in the icing and how much would you use if so.?THANKS

Can I add both the pudding and the sour cream to the box cake mix? Also I would like to add the extra egg I need milk instead of water is that possible? Please advise as I need to make a cake this weekend. Thank you so much,

Kristen

I set out all cool ingredients on counter at least 90 minutes prior to mixing. Room temp. ingredients blend better and the less beating you do, the better. Only beat batter as much as it needs! THEN STOPPP!

You can use all these hacks for any flavor cake, but if you make multiple boxes you modify each box of cake mix. Additionally, some hacks lend more to a specific flavor. Like for chocolate cake, adding whole eggs and coffee is amazing, but for a white cake I prefer to add egg whites + mayo and milk rather than coffee. You really just have to play around.

If you follow this Perfect Cupcake Recipe using a mix, you will be amazed that your batter is perfectly thick and creamy, not thin and runny like it is when you follow the box instructions.

This doctored cake mix is a great recipe for beginners or kids to the novice in the kitchen. Toss everything into a large mixing bowl, mix until well combined and your cake mix recipes come out perfect every single time. The fact that they start with a box mix will be our little secret.

*In case your wondering if this will work with the box cake mix you want to use: I've been making cupcakes and cakes this way for over 10 years now, I'm pretty sure box cake mixes have changed in size slightly over the years, but this still works.

Dear CHERYL, I just baked the cupcakes with the Pillsbury White Cake Mix (15.25oz.) according to your recipe. I used the 4 egg whites, melted butter and 1 cup of water. They are beautiful, tasty and I am looking forward to frosting them and taking them to the birthday party tomorrow.

Thank you again for your help.

Madeleine

Unsalted butter is usually the best choice so you can manage the salt content in the dish. Most baked goods and dessert recipes that call for butter are created with unsalted butter. It is the standard in baking and is always implied unless otherwise specified. That being said, if all you have is salted, you can certainly use it! I buy both, but use whatever I have on hand.

If the box says to use 1 cup of water, should I still use a little less water like you suggested, or stick to using 1 cup? If you do suggest using a little less than a cup, approximately how much water do you think that would be?

Both Hathaway and Clarkson chat with cupcakes in hand as Hathaway explains how dumbfounded she usually leaves people when she shows them this little trick. She uses one hand to hold the top of her cupcake (claw-handed from the top, to avoid touching the frosting) while her other hand rips the bottom half of the cupcake away. She then flips the top half over so that the frosting is sandwiched between the two halves of the cupcake. Holding the cupcake with both hands, she takes a bite like it's a burger. The audience gasps and applauds.

Genius! you might think. But I beg to differ. With all due respect to Anne Hathaway (truly, she's a talented performer with tons of charm and a long list of accomplishments), this cupcake hack just makes you work harder for less payoff.

First of all, ripping the cupcake in half like that leads to many more crumbs than if you had just bit into it in the normal way. What if you don't make a clean tear? What if a big chunk of your cupcake goes flying into the grass? You risk a lot of lost dessert this way. To really rip into the cupcake the way Hathaway demonstrates, you have to remove the cupcake liner completely, meaning you've surrendered your safety net for catching all those crumbs.

Hathaway is most definitely not the first to do this hack, so I'm surprised by how many people around her, Kelly Clarkson included, haven't seen this little trick before. Not that this is necessarily a common Google search, but if you just type in "How to eat a cupcake" you'll find articles and videos going as far back as 2012 with this exact method. Someone on The Takeout staff confirms a Girl Scout leader showed them this cupcake eating method in approximately 1999.

Everyone has a right to enjoy their cupcakes as they please! Depending on where the cupcake came from, sometimes I scrape off the frosting completely and just enjoy the cake part. I'm just saying that Anne Hathaway's cupcake eating hack doesn't track for me. Are you into it?

These chocolate chip cookie cupcakes are a breeze to make and ridiculously simple with their whipped cream topping and sprinkles. It makes a great cupcake hack for a sweet snack to enjoy with friends or a simple birthday party treat!

While thinking about how to make the cupcake process easier and more portable, I had a genius idea. Skip the finicky cake part and use cookie dough. Then, instead of making a frosting with multiple ingredients, order a Prime delivery from Whole Foods to get a couple cans of whipped cream and a container or sprinkles.

Love or hate 'em, you've got to admit that cupcakes really had their moment. They started rising in popularity back in 2003 with the opening of Crumbs Bake Shop in Manhattan, and quickly became one of the most annoyingly ubiquitous food trends to date. Seriously. Type "cupcake" into Google.

While I wouldn't turn it down if you put one in front of me (red velvet, please), I can't say that I was particularly disappointed to hear that the cupcake trend is coming to an end. I'm more of a cheesecake kind of girl. But I and millions of other people will still bake them at home from time to time, so I won't be throwing out my cupcake pan anytime soon.

If you've got a bunch of mason jars, you can use the rings to hold the cupcake liners in place while they're baking. Just arrange them on a regular baking sheet, stick a liner in each one, then pour in the batter and bake as usual.

If you don't have any mason jar rings, you can just put the liners on a baking sheet by themselves. The foil ones are especially good for this, but you can also double up the paper ones and use them instead. There is an ongoing heated debate over whether or not that's what the foil ones are made for, anyway.

Don't have any liners, either? It's pretty easy to make your own, and you make them sturdier than the ones you buy depending on what type of paper you use. Parchment paper works well because it's non-stick.

The simplest method is to mold them around a glass. Cut your paper into 5" by 5" squares, then wrap each one around the bottom of the glass. You can use a measuring cup to press it down to make the bottom perfectly flat.

If you want to make the liners stronger, you could make them two-layered with a thicker layer outside and parchment paper inside. That way, they'll stand up on their own and still have a non-stick layer.
