My ring is a gorgeous cushion cut ring on a yellow gold setting with two hidden halos and a thin band. Ryan completely customised this ring with Sonu Company. We were their first engagement ring and now they have a Netflix show to showcase their engagement rings and how amazing they are to have a part of the proposal process.
The day before the wedding, we had a very non traditional rehearsal dinner. We had our bridal party and immediate family come over and we catered an Argentinian dinner from a restaurant called Peppo. We took photos and just spent time with friends and family.
I got my shoes from Bella Belle. I wanted something to match the exact design of my dress and a shorter heel. They were beautiful and matched my dress perfectly. Ryan got his suit customised with a company named Hive & Colony. He did an ivory suit with an ivory paisley vest and an ivory bow tie. His shoes and belt were Gucci.
One thing we really wanted for this night was an amazing dinner for us and all of our friends and family. We upgraded our entree to surf and turf which was the best decision. It was amazing and everyone loved it. I had a Shirley temple with my dinner and Ryan had tequila.
At our ceremony we had a violinist and a cellist. For the groom and bridal party, the violin played Unthinkable by Alicia Keys. For the bride walking down the aisle, the violinist played Until I Found You by Stephen Sanchez. Our first song we chose Before You by Benson Boone. For our reception, we had a lot of hip pop party songs. Our wedding was a younger crowd so we wanted music that was going to be fun for us and all of our friends. Our playlist for dinner was more R&B/Soul.
I had an amazing glam team for my wedding day. My makeup artist name is Ferggie (bridebyferggie) and she made me feel so beautiful. It was the makeup I absolutely wished for, for the day of my wedding. When I had my bridal hair trail, I had no idea what I wanted. Amanda (amanda_tashelle) tried a few different hairstyles on me and my updo was everything I imagined with my dress. Everything complimented each other and I felt beyond beautiful. Jaimie (rich_in_beauty_) coloured my hair a week out from my wedding. She made it beautiful, healthy and shiny. She brought my dark hair dreams to life and gave me so much confidence that day.
We got our fur baby, Pogo, and enjoyed our time there for six years. During covid, we decided to leave the city to buy a home in San Diego where most of my family and our friends live. Eight years into our story, my grandma was sadly diagnosed with lung cancer. This led Sam to speed up his plans to propose at Thanksgiving, and instead planned the most epic surprise proposal of all time in Spring 2022.
For our wedding, we chose Avington Park in Winchester, UK. We fell in love with it the second we saw it because of its long tree lined driveway, deep red brick walls that contrast with its bright white centre columns, immaculate floral lined exterior, and breathtaking ballroom whose ceiling was painted by an artist who painted parts of Versaille, Antonio Verrio. We loved the roaming peacocks and sheep nearby and the creek running along the property. We wanted a complete rent out where our wedding party could sleep over. Its goddess statues atop the entrance and history as the party palace for royals and their friends sealed the deal!
Sam wore a black three piece suit with a velvet floral textured pattern on top by Twisted Tailor. It was super edgy and romantic. He wore black Christian Louboutin dress shoes and gold Ray Ban specs.
I had twenty three bridesmaids (LOL) and I wanted them all to feel their absolute BEST on our runway so I gave them very loose guidelines around the colour being something between emerald and dark forest green. Aside from that, anything was up for grabs. Most of them wore a deep emerald green and there were all sorts of textures and fits which I loved. They wore gold and / or nude shoes.
We had tall glass cylinders with thin cream colored candles. Our lush tablescape included floral bowls in differing sizes and heights with blousy midsummer florals in a nearly monochromatic palette of peaches and warm pinks. Interesting, fun textures to intermix of peaches and apricots. Very little to no greenery but massed florals and lots of warm colour.
We had big shared desserts served on raised wooden stands which was social and exciting for guests. They loved the oversized Mille-Feuille which alternated between Banoffee & Caramelized Banana and strawberries and cream flavours. But most of all, everyone loved the late night stone oven pizzas!
The bar was done flawlessly by Cock and Tail. We had three personalised cocktails at the cocktail hour, and three different ones at the reception. All were named playfully after friends, family and our pup Pogo. There was a lot of gin and a lot of tequila.
We hired LDN Entertainment for all aspects of entertainment. We had their Fortissimi String quartet including a beat boxer playing modern pop and R&B songs at our cocktail hour in the ballroom. Think Bridgerton soundtrack meets The Thong Song by Sisqo.
We both ate as clean as possible leading into the wedding to give our skin the best chance at being glowy and fresh. We worked out every day to keep stress away and walked minimum of 10k steps per day to stay fit. I get monthly facials and started focusing them on facial massage about five months before the wedding. I got a hydrating glow facial at The Langley two nights before the wedding. We also both got massages.
I had the best hair and makeup artists in England. All my bridesmaids got theirs done too and many said they liked their look on my wedding better than their look on their own wedding day. Samantha Stevenson + team on hair and Tara Sanger + team on makeup.
Since our wedding was a destination, we insisted on no gifts! We did supply some of our favourite charities as options for our most stubborn guests who wanted to spend. These included mental health, prostate cancer, heart disease and dog charities.
Originally published in five volumes between 1970 and 1990, David N. Johnson's Wedding Music collections have provided generations of organists with quality ceremonial music for weddings, funerals, and other worship services. Arranged for maximum flexibility and practicality, many of the settings feature optional parts for trumpet, violin, or other instruments. The fifth volume, originally arranged for manuals only, makes this anthology a useful resource for ceremonies where only a piano or keyboard is available.
In honor of the fiftieth anniversary, this new edition collects the entire series into one volume with updated engravings, new source attributions, and reproducible instrument parts in both C and B-flat transpositions. Spiral bound to lay flat against a music rack, we hope this collection will continue to be a valuable resource for years to come. This anthology is also available in a digital download edition to enable maximum flexibilty for performers.

With my last wedding of 2022 coming just 3 days before Christmas, I feel a little like Santa Claus checking my client's playlist way more than twice. :) But you know what? That's how I roll. I generally spend hours organizing a client's playlist so I always know which song to play next. It's no quick and easy ever because I want to make sure I have everything my client's want and then some. For this last wedding of 2022, my client's put me in charge of designing a playlist for when they partake in their plated dinner. A great dinner music playlist will come with it a variety of songs that are all about texture and flow, as well as the ability for guests to have casual conversation while enjoying dinner, but not have to worry about raising voices. After a cocktail hour which will consist of piano instrumentals while guests enjoy drinks at the bar, my client opted for the creation of a dinner music playlist which consisted of soft rock and easy listening songs. Over the years, I've developed quite the knack for putting these playlists together. After assembling this playlist, I was so proud of what I put together that I had to put it up on blog, as well as Spotify and share with current and prospective clients.
This selection of songs spans multiple decades, as well as multiple genres of music. If you've spent any time on my blog, you know that I've never had a shortage of playlist inspiration as it pertains to cocktail hour, but dinner music is different. While cocktail hour is often a chill time for the bridal party and guests, dinner is definitely a moment to sit down and have friendly banter while sipping on an adult beverage and indulging in a wonderfully catered meal. I've always believed that a playlist of dinner music selections should be softer, with a love theme. While there are a lot of wedding DJs who might see fit to throw on the same old tired songs, I've always taken it upon myself to dig deeper into my catalog and explore some wedding-worthy songs that brides and grooms might not think to request because they don't actively see the songs on all of the lists you see plastered all over Google. Since I'm in a constant state of music research, I've always found myself pushing the envelope a little more and playing songs not normally played, but songs that would be suitable. I've found over the years that mixing a set of music for dinner is more of an art-form for the best wedding DJs, and when I assembled these songs, I already envisioned how each song would transition into each other. I really appreciate you finding me and making it all the way to the end of this blog. If you continue back over to my blog, you'll find a lot more inspiration for cocktail hour playlists.
