Hi,

just a friendly reminder that there are still people out there curious what TuneBlade can do for Sonos speakers latency-wise.

As of 1.7.8.0 Tuneblade can get a connection to my Sonos Play:5 and send/receive control information (like volume), but the speaker stays quiet (or rather has a hint of white noise). Seems to be the same as an old iPad 2 can do (I don't have any other apple hardware to compare).

I still hope for an update to get it going.:)

Best regards,
Klaas

Hi Klaas,

Thank you for writing to us.

Apologies for the delay in adding support for Sonos.

Please check the latest version as we've added support recently.

Thanks,
The TuneBlade Team

Hi,

thanks for making the effort, runs smooth and reliable on my Sonos Play:5 and One! :) Bought a copy.

If you have some further time, two questions:

I noticed the minimum buffer is set to 192ms when playing to a Sonos speaker. Even in custom mode, which I thought is to play around freely. Is that a hard requirement by the speaker?

Why is an Apple device capable of playing roughly lipsync via AirPlay? What is at the heart of the issue that cannot be a achieved on a windows device?

Thanks, Klaas

@TuneBlade Support

Also interested in finding out what the minimal latency would be for a sonos speaker (the beam in this case)

just fyi, with windows Tuneblade to Airport express (airplay 2), my minimum latency is about 500ms - the delay I need to set when watching movies. I'm satisfied with this.
