LP dominated the Weekly Hindi Film songs Countdown programme Binaca Geet Mala, the most popular musical radio programme of its time. Its first broadcast was in 1953 by Radio Ceylon and its host was Ameen Sayani. The Binaca Geet Mala ranked the most popular Bollywood film songs according to sales in select shops in select cities.
In 1967, the spy thriller film Farz came out, entertaining us all with the story of Secret Agent 116. Though this is definitely a Bond-inspired film, it is actually a remake of a movie from the year before, called Gudachari 116. Listening to the fabulous Lata Mangeshkar sing this romantic song is one of the highlights of the movie. Because what would a spy movie be without a good love story?
This film from 1981 features some of the most beautiful clothes and settings of the era. In Ankhon Ki Masti is a compelling and seductive song by a courtesan, sung by Asha Bhosle, whose voice is well known from Bollywood films of that time. Both the leading actress, Rekha, and Bhosle won National Film Awards for their performances in this film.
Prakash Mehra directed this 1982 genre-crossing film, with music by Bappi Lahiri and lyrics by Anjaan. It was a fantastic success at the box office. The amazing Kishore Kumar won a Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer for his work on one of the songs, and Lahiri and Asha Bhosle thrilled audiences with their performances of Raat Baaki Baat Baaki.
Lol Dusted off fair enough, at first i actually thought it was really bad but after watching it a second time i enjoyed it a lot more inspite of some of its silliness
@ Thanks for that additional info Nasir, i have no idea of the Manoj Kumar song, what film is it from
@ Sunehri he looked the cutest here and then Jeene ki rah i think. The 60's are one of my fave decades for bollyood fashion and sets, people were very creative & resourceful
The two stills present the porous playful worlds spanning history and fantasy. First, a still from Halaku with its ''Chinese' looking character doing the shift for Mongols. Second, a still from Babubhai Mistry's Madari (1959), which features 'Chinese' performers. The Madari sequence was shot in color in an otherwise black-and-white film and featured in the film as a vaudeville-type exotic song-and-dance performance routine.
hey i have all og govinda movies from the 80s to now. although farz ki jung as a movie is below average the govinda and neelam song are great espeacialy the first 2.
i recomned = pyar karke dekho, taqatwar, which are very good
The only gardens, which I distinctly remember to have been filmed at a well-known gardens and not included in your list and one which I instantly recognised are the Hanging Gardens of Bombay and the song is aaja tujhe pyar kar loon o jaan-e-jaana from Ehsan (1970).
The epitome of Mughal garden architecture was supposed to be Shalimar Bagh Lahore & although I must have seen plenty of Pakistani songs filmed there, off-hand I can only remember Bawri chakori from Anarkali, which used a lot of historical Mughal locales
Pehle pehle pyar ki mulaaqatein yaad hain from The Great Gambler (1979) was partly filmed at the Parque Eduardo VII in Lisbon.
I wonder if this would be eligible for the list, but it is a nice song.
