Hello,

The community of King County Democrats are invited to attend the KCDCC Bylaws and Rules Committee Public Comment on Endorsements Issues Zoom Meeting.

When: Sunday, Mar 7, 2021 03:00 PM - 05:00 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada)

To help us avoid shenanigans, you must register in advance for this meeting:

https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYsf-6srTIvGdc6vLZgaabTlY_ZJ8XWo91z

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

The KCDCC Bylaws and Rules Committee will be taking comment on the two Endorsements-related issues we are currently working on, Conflict of Interest for Endorsements Committee and a Bylaws amendment intended to increase access to Votebuilder that was referred to the committee last cycle.

Our Draft Conflict of Interest Policy is here (subject to ongoing editing):

If you have ideas for filling out the missing bits, please email or bring them to present.

Regarding the Votebuilder meta, we’re currently leaning towards recommending that the Endorsements Committee be instructed to discover which candidates do not already have Votebuilder access but would be granted it upon Endorsement by the King County Democrats, and explicitly disclose such as part of their reports to the Executive Board, which are livestreamed on the record.

Our sense is that the Endorsements Committee is aware of the significance of Votebuilder access to our LDs and PCOs, and this trust but verify system assures that we will all remain mindful of it, and lowers the barrier to scrutiny of the decisions made that impact it. We will leave the door open to the reconsideration of offering Bylaws to address this to the PCOs for their approval.

Please feel welcome to come speak to these issues, or other Rules-related matters.

Depending on how many people are waiting to speak at any given time, we may need to prioritize some speakers over others. If circumstances require such, here are the general priority guidelines:

1) 2 minutes for anyone speaking to Endorsements Conflict of Interest Policy

2) 2 minutes for anyone speaking to the general problem space of if/how King County Democrats Bylaws/Rules should/can/can’t automatically echo LD Endorsements, and/or our proposed disclosure policy alternative.

3) 2 minutes for anyone who hasn’t already spoken but wants to raise some other issue to the Committee’s attention.

4) 2 more minutes about anything Rules for anybody who is not on the Committee or Subcommittee, even if they’ve already spoken.

5) Everybody chat amongst themselves about anything that can vaguely be related to the Rules Committee.

This event will be live-streamed to the King County Democrats Facebook Page.

Regards,

Angyl “Votey McVoteface” Bender

Chair, King County Democrats Bylaws and Rules Committee
