First, I’m announcing Appointment of an initial very small Committee team, whose work will include developing rules and guidelines for additional core Committee membership.

PLEASE NOTE we have some urgent items right now due to linear time and me raising a puppy, so that work and further Appointments will come secondary to the priority business, possibly after the next Bylawsapalooza.

Frankly, I’m still a bit haunted by our missed quorum last cycle and I want this initial team to patch that problem before further full Appointments.

I’m also extremely interested in expanding the landscape of ways of participating in King County Rules. I got a lot of helpful feedback from talking to very qualified people I wasn’t able to recruit to the full commitment, that they’d quite like to participate in smaller projects more limited in scope, so they could select which deliberations to engage in on their own without holding up business when other work was pressing.

So we’ll start off with a subcommittee for our urgent business, on the topic of the now, Endorsements Rules. We have a Conflict of Interest Policy to work out and a referral to committee from last year regarding Endorsements and VoteBuilder Access. This subcommittee will consist of everyone who wants to join it timely, and will exist until assigned work is completed. More on that next email.
