i was working on a android project but my laptop was formatted so i lost all code but i had a signed apk of the file on my phone .. whenever i try to use dex2jar it stops converting mid way with this error. how can i increase the heap size or is there another way out. can i decompile an apk with the key it was signed with
I have used dex2jar with the help of THIS tutorial to extract .class files, and used jd-gui to view the classes. but I cant edit in jd-gui so, through jd-gui, I "Saved All Resources", now I have a .zip with .java classes so I edited them with a Notepad++.So now I have a .zip with all the classes in .java and I edited what I wanted, how do I build back everything to a .apk to install to the phone? Is this the wrong way to edit a .apk?

Read/write the Dalvik Executable (.dex) file. Convert .dex file to .class files (zipped as jar). Disassemble dex to smali files and assemble dex from smali files, different implementation to smali/baksmali [ ], same syntax, but we support escape in type desc "Lcom/dex2jar\t\u1234;". You can download the latest version of Dex2Jar from here. The installation process is quite straightforward; you just must unzip the package in a folder of your choice and then add Environment Variables System "PATH." That is it; you are ready to start using dex2jar!

The second approach requires some mechanism to translate .dex files into .class files.dex2jar is undoubtedly the most commonly known tool to do this.However, I stumbled upon Enjarify.It advertises to work better for several edge cases:
It [dex2jar] works reasonably well most of the time, but a lot of obscure features or edge cases will cause it to fail or even silently produce incorrect results. By contrast, Enjarify is designed to work in as many cases as possible, even for code where Dex2jar would fail.
