I'm trying to understand what attributes the music payer tile shows, for some reason my title show next, previous, volume, mute and something else the present a label with an unknown value, and when I click on it make a call to the off function but wont toggle just call off, add a toggle function to the driver with the same result.
please if someone can clarify?

If you wanted it to interact with your device directly you would need to supply the track data to the tile somehow remove the 'unknown'. You can make any custom track name like 'Playing' and then you will see the play/pause button and be able to map that. However it a still might not work, because your amp is not a 'music player'. It has no play/pause.

For your situation I'd recommend DeadBeeF. It's light, fast and, silly name aside, it can do exactly what you want. Just point the player to the folder you want to play, arrange the files alphabetically via the 'Title' column and let it play your music.

The problem is that a lot of simple players are just stupid. They crush, or won't natively open flac, ape or cue files and such, or, if you add them the needed plugins to play them, they crush after that etc.

But so it happens that the best player around is also the lightest and simplest if you do not need addons/plugins - it is still light and fast with all that, and that's why it is the best; but anyway:

Considering Winamp itself: why not try it in Wine? It seems fast and light. Unless you want to try the real best player for Windows, and, through Wine, a serious favorite as the best in Linux: Foobar2000. (See related answer.)

(But I'm curious: why would one want to play music files alphabetically?? In case your needs of just playing alphabetically one folder of mp3 files have become more complex in time, you might consider editing your question.)

I'd recommend decibel-audio-player. Simple, lightweight, efficient and made just to play music. Best replace for winamp2 for me.It's available through standard repository and at launchpad.

I was reading a book which says that a processor with single core and no hyper-threading can process only one process at a time, so a doubt arises that when we do so many operations on a PC and also some background processes are always there then why not music player stops in between for short while. I know the CPU is pretty fast but still music player usually plays music in continuance without any small break ( that is observable ). Can anyone clarify this behavior?

Running out of samples is called buffer underrun. Even on modern computers this can happen, for example if you start a heavy process while running your audio player the CPU may not be able to switch back in time and we can clearly hear glitches and gaps in the sound feed.

I'm seeing the same problem, as well as an issue where the phone orientation will occasionally cause only part of the widgit to be visible. Killing the app that was playing music (or video) has no impact on this.

Hard reset seems to be the only thing that works, but then it comes back. I am to the fu**ing boiling point now with this effing bug. Please Apple, fix it. I don't want to have to restart my GD phone 5 times a day because the music widget is on the lock screen.

Update: I reset my phone and went to a meeting. When I came out, the music player was on my lock screen. No bluetooth, no media was played. It just appeared. My next step is to delete the music app and reinstall it. But I think I'll lose all my playlists. ?

Hello! Last month it came to my attention that no music players existed for the Playdate (there is Audition, but it's not made to be a music player). This didn't make sense to me, so I decided to create my own!

Also, does the Playboy automatically pause any app when locked or is that possible to get around bc I think it'd be good if you can lock the Playboy while still listening to music so that I dont accidentally press any buttons

To answer your .wav question, yes, you will have to downgrade to mp3 for musik to play your music. This is mainly because I'm using Playdate SDK built-in functions to handle the audio, so unless Panic adds .wav support you will have to use mp3s.

Sorry if my suggestions are unwanted, I'm just a big fan of music players and want this to be the best it could be. I'm also useless when it comes to coding so if anything I say is too difficult please just tell me outright.

I forgot to say that native mobile apps are still in beta and currently limited to apple. My apps are currently created as a desktop app and a mobile web app. I have my native version created as well but because the music player doesnt work in native apple yet, ive left this alone. Probably the most asked for things on bubble are repsonsive design and native apps so im hoping these things come soon! PM me if you have any questions or want to see what my app can do currently. hope this helps!

I'm afraid it's not really an option, but there's another way:
Go to your music library, right-click on any mp3 file and select Open With, and find Spotify. The file then opens in Spotify. After this move all the MP3 files should open with Spotify as default.

This does address the real issue, as I think many are trying to set it as their media player for their keyboards and such. I don't always have a file ready, and just need to open my media player (spotify).

In music player apps, the next button will change the track and play the next track in the playlist. But on pressing the previous button the track is not changed. Instead the current track starts from the beginning. And if previous button is pressed again then it will go to the previous track in the playlist.

Hi @mike99mac
To get Mycroft to play music you have to install a skill that handles playing music. Right now there is 3 skills that can do that - Spotify, Pandora and Emby in the market, and there is some more not yet in market players like Amazon music player and some others as far as i have seen.

But you are right that there is missing a player that could index and play from a networkshare or a local conected usbdisk. ut if you have lots of music on disk, I recoment setting up emby server and let emby index your music and then acces it using the emby skill.

. I will make a music player in mit app inventor but I don't know how to select the music file from the phone + when I select the music file from the phone, I want to reflect the music information on the screen, please help me how can I do it?

I will make a music player application and I want to automatically select songs from external storage and sd card and reflect them to the list. When the user selects a song from the list, I want it to play in the background. Please understand.

I want to upgrade this device to turn it into a media player to play movies via kodi etc, and a device where I can call people via WhatsApp using the remote control only. I well never use a keyboard or mouse

General problem, i am unable to play music from the owncloud sync folder, because no music was found. When i take a look with a file explorer, the data is there.
I tried it with different music players wich are able to work with local files, but none see more than

I dont understand, when i download a mp3 from my owncloud instance, i can choose the download folder an play it from there, but i can only choose the top owncloud folder, but nothing within. Looks like my player is able to play local files, but cant read in the owncloud sync folder

After searching music apps who can access this files i see the only reason to make no update looks like to sell another music app who can do this (with money or ads or stealing my data). No functional stock music player on android, welcome back to the dark age of the waybearer. Thank you google that i have to pay to get access to my music+.
At this point, because i fdroid, i have to steal a player or go back to a native mp3player.

I made a light-up music player that plays tunes while also displaying colorful lights that match the beat. And get this - you can increase the volume by pressing the button on the micro:bit, which also changes the color of the RGB light strip.

I just got my mycloud setup and put a few music files on the mycloud. I have the mycloud app on my ipad and can see and play the music files through the app. But the app is nearly useless for music because it does not really have a music library (show songs by artist, album, genre, playlist, etc.). Can I see and play my mycloud music files in my ipad native music player app or in some other app?

Recently my Watch got an update. Since then the Watch has trouble showing the music player I use on my phone. I either use S2 or Youtubw Music. As I have seen Youtube Music is no problem, but S2 is a problem. Before the update the Watch never had problem showing S2 on the Watch, but now it's seldom happening. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

i have the same problem. No matter what i played on mobile, nothing happen on my watch 4 screen. i think it was happen after 2 recent updates. Before that, when i played video on youtube, music on spotify or YTmusic, my watch alway pop the media up and i can fully control on watch. Now it was just annoying, im using smart watch but still have to manually open media player on it

Edit: TO BE CLEAR: The music is on the machine I SSH into and I want to play the music locally from the machine, controlling the CLI music player via SSH. Sorry for the confusion. I'm not trying to stream audio over SSH. I just want to use cmus in an SSH Terminal to play music that already is on the server I'm connecting to.

On the topic of music, especially interesting and unusual music, many thanks to Michael Lavorgna over at Audiostream, who mentions these two fine online sound collections: Cultural Equity and Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. What great sources for stuff that is of historical interest and just plain fun.
