ImportantNavigation and info about which lane to use aren't available in all countries, regions, and languages. Oversized or emergency vehicles aren't the intended users of navigation.

I wanted to change the NavigatIon Voice Volume setting on my iPhone Map in Setting: Maps: Navigation and Guidance Navigation Voice Volume, to learn when I upgraded my iPhone in September to iOS 15 they removed Navigation and Guidance from Maps Settings and I can no longer change the volume for my iPhone Map Navigation Voice Volume. If I had known this would happen I would never have upgraded to iOS 15. I moved in July and started using iPhone Maps for the first time. Is there anything I can do to get Apple to bring back Navigation & Guidance in Settings for Maps so the navigation voice volume can be changed? They never should have removed this from Maps Settings. How can I get Apple to bring it back??

You can change the volume with the volume controls. The only thing they removed was the arbitrary selections of low, normal, and high. You just adjust the volume with the volume control on the iPhone, or if you have it connected to the vehicle, the volume control there.

You have to do this while you are in Maps with turn by turn navigation running. Make sure in Settings>Sounds & Haptics that you have Change with Buttons turned on, and you do not have anything else running with sounds.

I just checked this on my iPhone. It sounds like you are referring to it while connected to Bluetooth in your car, since you are trying to adjust it with the radio control, not the iPhone itself. Is that correct?

Are you using music on the phone, or from the vehicle? There used to be a setting about pausing music or other audio for directions. Now the setting only says Podcasts. If you go to Settings>Maps>Spoken Directions, have you tried using the setting for Directions Pause Podcasts to see if that brings down the sound of music when Maps tries to speak a direction? When I use my iPhone for directions, I do not use Music from my phone, I use my vehicle. I can try testing this tomorrow to see what type of result I get. I also know that iOS 15.1.1 has added a switch for Directions on Radio, so you can have the directions spoken on the iPhone instead of on the car radio if you wish.

This is not correct. Adjusting the volume with the side buttons is global. It will also make the music play louder. There should be an independent way to adjust the navigation volume, but it was removed.

In iOS 15 I cannot find a way to control the volume, independently from music/podcasts being played, of the voice guidance in the current version of Apple Maps. Most are saying to just use the volume up/down buttons on the iPhone, but this seems to be global, and also changes the volume of music/podcasts being played. So if your listening to music very softly, you'll barely hear Siri speak the directions (or alerts). When you turn it up to hear Siri's voice guidance, once completed, you'll get alarmingly loud music. I can no longer find any options for 'Voice Guidance Volume'. Please help.

That said, I do experience slight improvement using Settings > Music > Soundcheck ON. It seems that the LUFS level on some Apple Music tracks is not as loud as others. Earlier articles mentioned this setting had zero effect on streaming music. This is no longer true, and Soundcheck seems to set a Music volume between them.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. You've mentioned that the volume is low when directions are being given if you're listening to music in your car. If you go to Settings > Maps > Navigation & Guidance, is the voice volume set correctly? Can you try adjusting the sound with the volume keys on the side of your device?

Basically, you can set Siri to 50% on the iPhone volume setting, but also set it to 70% on the car setting and they will combine to form a sound level. You could then set Spotify to 70% on the phone, but 80% on the car for a combined volume level.

That's correct! In iOS 14 you could set the voice to loud. They removed that setting in iOS 15 and it was replaced with "pause podcasts". That setting might work well for podcasts, I wouldn't know though because I listen to ZERO podcasts, only music from my iTunes library!!

You have to have your radio set at a loud hearing level in order to hear the voice directions being spoken from the navigation. This is fine when I'm driving by myself but not so great when I have my family with me.

I agree. I do notice that Podcast volume is more relative to the navigation volume. The Apple Music volume must be extremely loud to hear the navigation. I attempted to turn up the volume WHILE Siri was speaking the directions, but then the music also plays louder. Apple should have volume independence for all apps, that way they could be better balanced. I believe Waze still has a setting for loudness.

Has anyone found a way of turning the voice guidance off or even down as a default: in the previous version this was possible, but I cannot find a setting for this in the new car. It is a bit annoying that each time I start the navigation I have to find the mute button (unless there is a voice command I haven't found yet).

Thanks: the navigation volume looks the best choice, but "mute navigation" worked well if I want to have the voice guidance on as a default. I also found a setting in Guidance about Landmark voice guidance (have to scroll down below weather etc). Not sure what this is about?

I would have the guidance system on so that any traffic alerts on my route are available, even if I know the route, but I do not need turn instructions (especially to carry on the same road)

That one gets me.

If you haven't set a destination and just have the map on screen as you drive why would the NAV be giving voice instructions?

I understand all the other reasons, although even with HUD you change your focus distance, so eyes are still not on the road. And looking at the map to your left does the same.

I'm not criticizing, genuinely curious to your plight.

Also seems like VOL to minimum is the easiest, if not complete answer

so i use my gps navigation about 1-2 times a week. usually i can hear the talking gps voice OVER my music. however last night i used it and the talking voice was barely hearable. i didnt change any settings that i know of. does anyone else have this issue? id like to be able to hear the turn by turn like normal again

It is actually described in the manual . . . . . but there are three volume settings; one for the radio, one for the Bluetooth and a third for announcements. You adjust each while the respective feature is active.

The announcement setting lowers the radio volume and you can adjust it so that the radio doesn't actually change volume during announcements if you set it right.

Volume settings are persistent. They remain where set through power cycles.

Maybe this is redundant for this thread, but just for clarity. Adjust your volume while the Nav voice is speaking and the Nav volume will stay at that level. I don't remember exactly, but the radio volume will decrease by some amount when the Nav voice is speaking, I think it does matter how loud your volume was set before the Nav voice began speaking.

I did a manual upgrade through the Ford downloads Maps 2.20. I have previously upgraded to Sync 3.4.21194. Everything seems to work reasonably well except I have no voice response to any navigation commands.

From reading about similar errors it seems I may be missing some Navigation voice files. Does this sound correct? If so, my question is - can I use the Cyan Labs downloader to install only these files? Should I select a Maps Only update to 2.20?

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the voice of the navigation speaker? I know other systems allow this. I cannot stand the voice of the woman telling me directions. I won't be able to use that feature if I can't select a better voice. Couldn't find any reference to this in the manual. Help!
