A virus is a malicious computer program that infects other programs, modifying or corrupting them. As the Mega Man franchise features many artificial intelligences, viruses usually refer to computer viruses, with biological viruses being rarely seen.

Dr. Wily created a virus named Roboenza that leaves robots sick and, in the worst case, out of control. Ironically, in the end of the game Dr. Wily had a fever and needed to be hospitalized. As thanks, Wily left the cure for Roboenza after escaping from the hospital.

Malicious softwares and enemies in the series are commonly referred as viruses, with a large variety of them appearing, including corrupted programs, bugs, and opposing security systems. Viruses are a common threat as many devices are connected to the cyberworld in the series. Despite being called viruses, not all of them are malicious, a few being friendly or beneficial, such as the viruses in the Virus Breeder.

Like the Mega Man Battle Network series, viruses are a common threat in the Mega Man Star Force series, their data now being made of electromagnetic waves due to the technological advancement.

In The Return of Dr. Wily, Dr. Wily's eight Robot Masters were created with a virus that would infect Mega Man each time he obtained a Special Weapons from them, so even if Mega Man defeats all of them, he would become a loyal robot with their powers. Wily almost succeeded, but Dr. Light created an anti-virus that restored Mega Man to normal.

Recently, I have been receiving a lot of messages regarding the progress of the third part of Megaman X Virus Mission series. What happened to it? Well, let's move back about ten years. The work on the game was going quite well. I even managed to implement new game mechanics. Those included attacks missing or dealing critical damage, cooldowns for more powerful skills and hyper mode power ups which not only gave characters health and power boost, but also extra skills. Unfortunately my PC broke down beyond repair. I had lost all of the game data before I managed to do any kind of backup. The game was about 33.3% complete, I even released a playable demo on one of the forums I was a moderator at. I was really upset about this since a lot of my work went down the drain. I lost all of the desire to recreate my work and decided to focus on my studies.

I am sorry for this. The project was scrapped and I took a break from game coding and animation. This was a really difficult time for me, but I am still grateful for all of the support from you. I know that you should never say "never", however, I do not think I will ever create the third part. In addition, Flash has already become an obsolete technology, being replaced with HTML5 and other new web standards. Operating systems like Apple's mobile iOS already stopped supporting it years ago and it is only a matter of time when all of the web browsers stop paying attention to it. This is another reason why I propably will not continue the series.

What about my life you may ask? What about the studies I mentioned eariler? Oh boy, was it a long journey. I majored in not one, not two, but three fields! I received a bachelor degree in emergency medicine and informatics which I also extended, therefore gaining master of science in engineering degree. Today, I work as a full-fledged software engineer in one of the companies which produces medical software systems.

Sounds crazy right? This teenager from Poland who animated a character from a Sonic the Hedgehog game in such way that he defecated on the dead body of its protagonist? It still makes me laugh when I think about this. I was sixteen years old back then, still not knowing where my life will take me. Video games, animated shows, comics, typical nerdy ways of entertainment were and still are my passion. They gave me lots of inspiration to come up with the ideas for my work. But I would propbably have never realised them if I had not watched works of other Newgrounds users like Cajunspirit, BlackDevilX, Flamezero, LGDVegetto, MidNightMaren, Heran-Bago, Randy Solem and many others who inspired me to create those silly animations and games you can still view here. I am so happy that I could be a part of this wonderful community. This of course also includes people who viewed my works and gave them fair reviews. Thanks to all of you!

So that could've explain why you couldn't release your work a decade ago. If you have no inspiration, than I can understand. I wish you well with your life.
PS: This is coming from a long time fan and I thought you kinda of moved on. So I guess that makes sense.

Thanks. Yes, unfortunately I had to take care of other important matters. It was a real shame since I really enjoy coding games. Nowadays I mainly code web applications. Writing them is not bad, but I do not have as much fun with working on them as I have with games.

I am not sure. I was playing with some game engines including XNA and Unity and l learned a little bit regarding advanced game design. Unfortunately, I am not planning any works to be released in the near future.

Always nice when someone decides to tell others how it went since the last time they've been here. You said you have fun making games... Do you belive you would ever go back to that? As a hobby or some such. This is not a request, I honestly am just wondering.

Who knows. I worked a little bit with XNA and Unity. However I also work full time as a software engineer. When I get back home I like to do something else than debugging, scripting and testing. I focus more on non technical stuff then, like learning new languages,

Well actually if you didn't lose your progress then you wouldn't focus on your lessons and well... you know, you couldn't be where you are right now. (also, are you still doing games or applications by coding)

@Alberto66 @MaranX Well, I'm a programmer in the learning process, and I know you won't finish the project, and I know that flash is already archaic, but I think the game could be made for another platform, maybe an app. My intention here is that I would like to finish what you once started, to do a job as well done as the one you did .. My intention is that I would like to finish the game since I have a special affection for it, and I do not do it for credits or I do nothing for the simple reason that I would like to see the game finished and I know that many would like it, I only ask you to give me permission to do it, so that in the future I can achieve it ... thank you just in case this is my instagram .. (ansumjr10) thanks for creating the game just give me the opportunity ..

The Sigma Virus (シグマウィルス?), also officially referred to as the true form of the 'Suffering Circuit' in Megaman Zero Official Complete Works, is Sigma's true form, first seen in Megaman X 2. It is formerly known as the Maverick Virus that turns Reploids and even Hunters into Mavericks.

As a virus, the Sigma Virus has the ability to infect and corrupt its targets. The Sigma Virus is quite diverse; not only does it cause Maverick behavior in Reploids, it also has the ability to make Mechaniloids go berserk. On the flip-side, however, the Sigma Virus when exposed to an insane robot (i.e. Zero) would have the opposite effect. Also, on its own it can drive Reploids to insanity, but under Sigma's direct control it has also been shown to become an effective tool in subtly manipulating a Reploid's heart or even controlling them completely like puppets on a string. Once infected, the Sigma Virus is relentless and the infected cannot be easily returned to normalcy. Only when the host itself has died, does the Sigma Virus die along with it. Therefore the only option for most infected Reploids is to be retired by the Hunters. The exceptions to the rule that the virus dies with its host are Sigma and Zero. Sigma uses the Sigma Virus as a means to revive himself after each defeat, whereas Zero is constantly spreading the virus even after death.

Surviving from over 100 years ago, a subspecies of an unknown computer virus emerged from the capsule Zero slept in. Driving robots mad locally, the human leadership acknowledged these infected robots as Mavericks, and ordered them to be disposed of. Following through with the disposal of Mavericks, the human leadership decided to have Mavericks exterminated by other Reploids, and formed the Hunters. Ironically, the leader of the first generation of Maverick Hunters is Sigma, the Reploid who eventually led a revolt against the human leadership. Named after him, the Virus would become to be called the "Sigma Virus".
