As the Brandon Library strives to keep current and bridge the digital divide, we realize the value of computers and reliable internet access in today’s society. As more and more services are moving toward exclusive online access, Brandon Library and your Librarians are stepping in to fill the need and to provide free, easy, and equal access to information in all forms.
Unemployment benefits, IRS tax forms, job applications, and SAT and ACT registrations are just a handful of services that are becoming exclusively accessed online. Prescription Drug Benefit (Medicare Part D) and the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) require online selection of plans as well as registration…it is these services that are so necessary and yet almost impossible to access without a reliable internet connection.
Brandon Library helps to fill the gap that is widening as more and more public services are digitized. We have 6 computers for public use and we offer free Wi-Fi that can be accessed from anywhere inside the building. The Wi-Fi even reaches to our bench out front and to our parking lot, where many people access it after hours from their cars.
We offer a printer that can be used from our public computers or from your laptop or device and we have a copy machine/fax where patrons can photocopy and send and receive faxes.
Your Librarians, Steph, Lynn and Molly are willing and available to help with tech support as you need it. If you have a tech issue that requires more in-depth support we offer free, one-hour appointments for personalized, one-on-one computer support with Molly. She can help with everything from setting up an email account and navigating the internet to setting up an online storefront or creating a website.
Come on in and use the computers and internet to type documents, access files, complete job searches, be social, do homework, research, shop…the opportunities are virtually endless.
