Brandon Library takes pride in caring for our patrons young and old. For our more seasoned patrons we offer a few special services to make life easier and more enjoyable (and book-filled).
For people who have a hard time getting out of the house due to mobility issues, illness, or weather we happily deliver books right to your home. We can bring specific requests or we are happy to fill a grab-bag with choices that we think you’ll love. Call the library (802-247-8230) to find out more about our Homebound Library Services.
We have an extensive collection of Large Print books in many genres and by popular authors. If vision is an issue for you we also have a comprehensive selection of audiobooks in every genre. We have a huge collection of books on aging and health, including cookbooks, nutrition, financial planning, trusts and estate planning.
We offer programming specific to our older population including armchair travel programs, final affairs planning, and if you are lucky enough to have time to travel we have a travel section upstairs in our non-fiction area and a current collection of travel magazines.
Join us on Fridays for our movie screening – every Friday at 1:30pm right after the Senior Lunch at the Senior Center. Bring a friend and enjoy a movie and popcorn.
We offer rides to the polls for people who don’t drive or have a hard time getting out. We also facilitate absentee ballot voting. If you prefer to vote by absentee ballot, give the library a call. We can have the ballot mailed to your house and we are also happy to help with returning it to the town offices.
You may not need these services yet, but when you do you will be so glad they are available to you! We are always happy to see our longtime patrons and keep up with your news. We are interested, caring and invested in your lives, as much or as little as you choose to share with us over the circulation desk. Sometimes the library is one of only a few links older folks have to the broader community. If you know of a friend, neighbor, or relative who might benefit from any of our elderly services, please let them know about our offerings.
