This article is the conclusion of our weekly column to increase awareness of our library services and to inform our community about what we do to serve you and how we do it.
Thank you for reading these columns; we hope that you have learned about some new ways to access your library that you weren’t aware were available to you.
For the past couple of decades the town budget has included the Library appropriation. The town budget for vote on March 3rd does not include the Library appropriation and it will be voted on as a separate article. This is not new money for taxpayers -- the only thing new is that now the voters get to approve the amount. That is why we need your support.
Please Check Yes for the Library on March 3rd.
Brandon Free Public Library's annual budget totals $163,725. The Library is asking the voters of Brandon and Forestdale to check Yes on March 3rd for our appropriation amount of $85,500. This reflects a 5% decrease from 2013 and level-funding from 2014.
Brandon Library raises almost half of our annual budget ($78,225) outside of town support, making it one of the most self-sustaining libraries in the state of Vermont. Our Library is busy; the traffic varies seasonally but averages over 200 users per day. An average of 30 people use the computers daily.
