Some facts and opinions:
  • The Working Families Party is the electoral arm of the labor/left movement in a few states, most notably Connecticut, New York, and Oregon.
  • Don't be fooled by "Party". They're pretty great.
  • The way they work is run their own candidates, or sometimes endorse good grassroots Democrats on their ticket. Look up "fusion voting" in Google.
  • WFP organizers were among the original core people who made Occupy Wall Street happen.
Joe from WFP wants me to recommend some of you to work with them. Either for this posted job, or a different position.

I'm happy to do so. You'd be at a vibrant organization that has a foot in the nonprofit left, labor left, and radical left.* You'd learn useful skills. And you might actually get major legislation passed in NYS.

Think about it. Let me know if you're interested.

*Yes, it has three feet!

Hi, Joe, what a surprise - I was just reading your thread on gamechangers and getting all righteously upset about Cuomo.

Thanks for reaching out to me.

I love the WFP, but I'm booked until at least October. Maybe I can find someone else to fit your needs, though. I'll give it a few days thought and get back to you. Does that sound good?

Oh, here's a thought: back when I was at Brandeis, I trained a crop of students to use online organizing tools. They don't have enough experience for this job specifically, but a few of them have been using Salsa and using online organizing on campus for years. Do you have need for those sorts of people, perhaps for a different position?

I'd love to hear more about what you guys are planning, and being helpful however I can.

Hey Sahar -

Joe Dinkin from Working Families Party here. We met a few Netroots Nations ago. I was leafing through a stack of old resumes because I'm looking for a new campaigner and I wondered if A) you might be looking for a job or B) you might be able to steer me toward some great applicants.

Here's the descrip:

Hope you're well!
