Ijust updated the IDE to 2.2.0. Runs fine on my Windows 10 box, but Windows 7 gives me a "the procedure entry point getpackagefamilyname could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll".

You will now find that Arduino IDE periodically shows an "Update Available" dialog to offer you an update to the newer version of Arduino IDE. You must not accept these updates since the newer versions are not compatible with the vintage Windows versions.

The "Update Available" dialog contains a "SKIP VERSION" button. If you click that button, Arduino IDE will no longer show the dialog for the specific newer version being offered at the time you click the button.

The dialog will appear once again each time Arduino releases a new version of Arduino IDE, so you will need to click the button again after each release. That is slightly inconvenient, but the release cycle is fairly long so I don't think it will be very burdensome.

It is possible to completely disable the offers of updates in the Arduino IDE advanced settings. The downside is this setting also disables offers of updates for your installed boards platforms and libraries.

If you chose this method, make sure to periodically check to see if newer versions of your installed boards platforms and libraries are available. You can do this by opening Boards Manager and then setting the "Type" menu to "Updatable", then repeating the process with Library Manager.

I have a problem that I have been trying to resolve for the the last fortnight and is pretty close to completely beating me. I have WSUS 3.2.7600.256 running on a Windows 2008 R2 server some updates download and install fine but a large number fail to download. The only clue to what is causing it is the single error event in the Application log.

Highly unlikely that wsusutil movecontent caused any problems, but it does beg the question of how the ContentDirectory got set to the optical drive in the first place, and what else was misconfigured concurrently, or by that same operator.

OK thanks. I have looked through the list (thankfully small) of failed updates and none of them have seemingly failed to download. the only items are superseded updates. It certainly looks then that the server is downloading the updates correctly but it is still spitting out the 10032 event every 6 hours when it checks for new updates.

The Return Value section of the documentation for each function that sets the last-error code notes the conditions under which the function sets the last-error code. Most functions that set the thread's last-error code set it when they fail. However, some functions also set the last-error code when they succeed. If the function is not documented to set the last-error code, the value returned by this function is simply the most recent last-error code to have been set; some functions set the last-error code to 0 on success and others do not.

Functions executed by the calling thread set this value by calling the SetLastError function. You should call the GetLastError function immediately when a function's return value indicates that such a call will return useful data. That is because some functions call SetLastError with a zero when they succeed, wiping out the error code set by the most recently failed function.

The error codes returned by a function are not part of the Windows API specification and can vary by operating system or device driver. For this reason, we cannot provide the complete list of error codes that can be returned by each function. There are also many functions whose documentation does not include even a partial list of error codes that can be returned.

Error codes are 32-bit values (bit 31 is the most significant bit). Bit 29 is reserved for application-defined error codes; no system error code has this bit set. If you are defining an error code for your application, set this bit to one. That indicates that the error code has been defined by an application, and ensures that your error code does not conflict with any error codes defined by the system.

Depending on the specific error, kernel32.dll error messages apply to any number of software programs on any of Microsoft's operating systems from Windows 95 through Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.

We don't recommend this step unless you feel comfortable that the kernel32.dll error isn't caused by a single program (Step 2). If a single piece of software is causing the kernel32.dll error message, reinstalling Windows and then installing the same software may put you right back where you started.

Errors arise when other applications in "Windows" are trying to access the protected memory space that Kernel32.dll is using. These kind of errors can occur in all "Microsoft Windows" operating systems from "Windows 95" to the new "Windows 7".

Lots of people having issues with latest Skype update these days. The error message concerns Kernel32.dllNote: Do NOT attempt to change this .dll on your computer. This is not the issue. The problem is that Skype have stopped support Win XP SP2 and older. You need to update to XP SP3 from Microsoft help center then possibly reinstall Skype again.Do note: Microsoft themselves will stop support this XP from April 2014 onwards, and so will lots of other software vendors.Hope it helps!

Hi! I used to use Skype for a long time without problems. But recently I have received notification on updating the program. So after updating of Skype, the latter doesn't run. Only notification "Fatal Error" with short description "Failed to get proc address for SetDllDirectoryW (Kernel32.dll)" is appeared.

Step 1: Launch the Run utility by pressing Windows + R keys on your keyboard. Type in 'cmd' in the text input field. Then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter keys to open the Command Prompt in administrator mode.

Step 4: This command will try to search and fix corrupt system files (including DLL files). Once the process is complete, you can check the log file created in the path shown in the command prompt. If in the log file you find details of the fixed DLL File then you can run the application again.

Step 5: Sometimes, Windows might not be able to find the latest driver. In such cases, the user can visit the manufacturer's website, search for the driver, and instructions on how to proceed with the installation.

Step 7: The System Restore will begin and your PC will restart once the process is complete. When you log in again, you will see a notification that the System Restore is complete. Now, you can run the application again to see if the error is fixed.
