Themachine parameter is currently in PREVIEW for Windows 11 only. The parameter is availablebeginning with the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22557.This information relates to a prerelease product that may be substantially modified before it'sreleased. If you run a command that contains the string CMD as the first token without an extension or path qualifier, CMD is replaced with the value of the COMSPEC variable. This prevents users from picking up cmd from the current directory.

If you run a 32-bit graphical user interface (GUI) application, cmd doesn't wait for the application to quit before returning to the command prompt. This behavior doesn't occur if you run the application from a command script.

If you run a command that uses a first token that isn't a command or the file path to an existing file with an extension, Cmd.exe uses the value of the PATHEXT environment variable to determine which extensions to look for and in what order. The default value for the PATHEXT variable is .COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;.WSH;.MSC

start searches for a specified executable file, and if found, the executable launches regardless of the current working directory. When searching for an executable file, if there's no match on any extension, start checks to see if the name matches a directory name. If it does, start opens Explorer.exe on that path.

I have exactly the same problem, only dropbox shows on notification area. it says starting and after some time starting it just dissapares, I have uninstalled dropbox and installed it agan several times, but still no luck

Yes. This happens to me. Support responded me saying that there was nothing they could do and cancelled my subscription. For some reason I uninstalled Dropbox yesterday all over and started over. Worked again. I had to pause the sync for half a day and when I started again, same problem. The crashing.

I have it enabled, windows is tring to load dreopbox, but dropbox does not load itself working, says that is starting and just cloese itself after a little while, there is no crash information or any other report about it and it is in two sepparate computers now.

There is not much to show on the picture, it only says starting, I have restarted computer, I have done shut down, I have deinstalled and installed dropbox multiple times. Deinstallation was done fully, removed everything. At my home computer it works perfectly, when I changed harddrive on my laptop and installed windows again, after that it does not work on it, I did not use my other PC for a long time and when I turned it on, it did all the updates and I installed the dropbox on it, it did not work, it loads, says starting and in some time later just dissapares and it is not showing on running programs either.

I decided that now is as good a time as any to learn Python, so I went to download the latest version 3.9.0. After downloading it, I used the Windows search bar to find that 3.8 was already installed (from a previous attempt at learning Python).

I clicked on 3.8 where it prompted "Modify, Repair, Uninstall". After uninstalling, it's unfortunately still there. The files are nowhere to be found, and I can't interact with them. This is what I see:

I have tried logging out, restarting, uninstalling 3.9 (so there are no current versions of python), and restarting Cortana in task manager. An old post on Microsoft recommended renaming this file: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy on reboot, but I don't believe this file exists anymore. I would have just ignored it, but it seems to conflict with 3.9.

I have had this same problem. I cannot get version 3.8 to get off the start window, however, I have resolved the conflict. I first, after uninstalling 3.8 normally, I found the leftover files (the manual) in the C:\Users\CHfar\AppData\Local\Programs\Python pathway. I deleted all the 3.8 files. I also uninstalled python 3.9.1.

To check to see if everything was correct I typed in 'env' into the search at the windows start button and clicked on edit environment variables for your account. I went to Path and clicked Edit. Make sure the python pathways are at the top.

The question was from 2 years ago, but hopefully this can help everyone else with the same problem. You can remove the folders and items from here: C:\Users"your_account_name"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\

I am having the same problem -- started in the middle of the day, yesterday (12-5-23) I have windows 11 and it suddenly stopped allowing me to get to drop box from the systray or the windows file explorer. I worked with two drop box people on chat -- one had me to download and install current version of drop box. Issue continues. So I have to launch from the notification area. I'd rather launch from the systray. Any additional solutions? One idea I tried is sometime on MSWindows in the past, an app like Outlook or Chrome won't launch from systray and I have to 'end task' to those apps that are running in the background. There are 7 dropbox apps running in the background on my machine... I tried ending task on each one, but they come back so I'm not sure what that means. Am I able to quit from the profile button in the notification app of dropbox by the clock. I'm wondering whether that caused something? I've never known I could access dropbox there, either. Is that a new version of dropbox? Any help is appreciated! Thank you.

I have windows 11 and it suddenly stopped allowing me to get to Dropbox from the systray or the windows file explorer, mid-day yesterday (12-5-23). It was working all morning just fine from the systray. I worked with two Dropbox people on chat -- one had me to download and install current version of Dropbox which was already current and issue continues. The other Dropbox tech remoted in and said after seeing what was happening, that it was likely a Microsoft Windows problem and I would have to launch from the notification area by right clicking the Dropbox icon on the bottom right near the clock and clicking on the file folder. I'd rather launch from the systray like I've been doing for years. Any additional solutions? One idea I tried is sometime on MSWindows in the past, an app like Outlook or Chrome won't launch from systray and I have to 'end task' to those apps that are running in the background. There are 7 Dropbox apps running in the background on my machine... I tried ending task on each one, but they come back so I'm not sure what that means? Am I able to 'quit' from the profile button in the notification app of Dropbox by the clock and that will allow it to open from the icon in the systray? I'm concerned if I say 'quit' from that notification area I might not be able to access Dropbox at all so I haven't tried that. I've didn't know I could access Dropbox there --Is that a new version of Dropbox? Did that cause this issue? Any help is appreciated! Thank you.

Further testing after running into the same problem after computer restart. I think the problem was actually resolved by running Docker Desktop as Administrator. I think there are some conflicting admin privileges that might be leading to problems? A lot of speculation but hoping this helps someone else.

3] Open your TouchPad settings. You will be able to access it via Control panel > Mouse properties & settings. Configure your Touchpad settings like Pressure, etc properly. Did that help? No? Then disable 2-finger & 3-finger scrolling and see. Does unchecking Right Edge Swipe help? If not, you can, set all settings to Default and see. If even this does not help, disable TouchPad and see.

If you are concerned about the fact that the Windows 10 Start Menu always opens up after your computer comes out of Sleep Mode or Hibernation, know that this is the intended behavior and you have nothing to worry about.

So if you used Power Options> Restart which is present in the Start Menu, your Start Menu would have been open before your computer went to Sleep and so it would remain open after you came back to your desktop after Sleep. If you had left a Notepad window open, that too would have been open once you resumed.
