Fiona, your views valued on this one especially. What's the word from your 'hood?
And what is to be made Barack Obama? I came across a blog which had a speech where he suggested the US is a violence obsessed culture. "We glorify it, we encourage it, we ignore it." Not sure Dubya would concur, publicly. And then introduced Iraq and suggested US culture of violence is rooted in an incapacity to understand we are all connected fundamentally as people and trapped in a belief that we can impose our wills on each other and differentiate ourselves and make ourselves feel better from one another because of the accidents of birth or race or gender. "We base our decisions in terms of sending our young men and women to war not on the necessity of defending ourselves but the belief that somehow with military force we can achieve aims that should be achieved through diplomacy and alliances." Interesting times ahead, if he gets any traction.
Just some ramblings for the weekend. Hope you all have a good one.
Hugs

PS Fiona, thanks for the recent analysis of attraction to the college sporting system. V interesting.

I’m buggered.
Buggered if I want to even read about the Virginia stuff.
Buggered if I can believe they refer to it as ‘the worst campus shooting’ – is it a competition
Buggered if Obama will get a vote except from some leftie Hollywood types- doesn’t he listen to rap. Guns are the lifeblood of the hood!!
Buggered if a country that believes in the devil will ever think about why so many people who wear teatowels hate their guts.
And I’m just buggered. Thank God (ours by the way not theirs) that it’s Friday and I can have few beers and watch the Test match and then the cricket. Oh yes Ferg there’s League test match tonight – you should see it after the replay of the Sth Adelaide Boozers v East Adelaide Dunstans AFL game at 2am tomorrow morning.
Love to all
Paul
