Dear comrades
It seems a eon since there was any action on the blog. The catalyst for this post is Briggsy's visit, accompanied by Patrice, to Adelaide last weekend. Great to see you, sport, and wonderful to spend more time with Patrice too.

The highlight of the journey was (probably) the trip to footy park to watch the Crows flog the Lions. The 200 (or so) Lions supporters were just slightly outnumbered by the 48,640 crows fans! But, they are a pretty mellow mob, and there was very limited abuse, serious or more jocular. Sums up Adelaide generally - mellow, conservative, not wanting to offend, and possibly, dull. Eh? But pleasant enough...

Sunday saw the half marathon and the kids and I popped out to watch Briggsy cross the finish line. Six events for the year - very impressive. Then a quick trip to the beach to splash in the water and build a sandcastle, inc tunnel.

So, that is one out of five Trust members to visit. Hope one or more of you can make it down before Briggsy does the 2008 event!

In other news, I have a new job, yay, as Manager, Info and Knowledge Management in the Dept for Families and Communities, looking after the internet and intranet, the library, records management and some other stuff. Dave, I will be in touch to get some tips about what the hell libraries are all about and where they are headed. I think ours still has a smokers lounge so might need a bit of a spit and polish!? Its nice to be moving from the Office for the Ageing - I sometimes (often!?) thought i would be stuck there forever. The extra pay means I can cease doing a local paper run, which, to my severe and major embarrassment, I started months ago. Oh, the depths we go for beer and vodka money. Oh yeah, and to pay child care and the mortgage etc. The whole idea compromised so many of my values I barely know where to start, but the idea of loosely working with News Corp and Rupert Murdoch made be feel ill, hence me not mentioning it to anyone, but it doesnt seem so bad now that it is over - and Rupert can go f*ck himself, forever!

Lisa is as busy as ever and is on the cusp of a new job as Research and Evaluation manager in a quasi-govt organisation. She rather likes her current job but works for a complete bully at Flinders Uni. It will mean an extra day in child care for the kids, which isnt so great, but has some other benefits.

The kids turned 3 a couple of weeks ago. They are a complete delight, 97% of the time, and sooooo grown up, esp Annabelle. They are into spontaneous hugs with each other at the moment, which is insanely cute, plus Thomas the Tank Engine and various fairies etc.

That's probably about it from here. Spring has come early here. After months of maximum temps <15 style="" face="georgia" size="3">

Boys and Fi
I am sitting at the computer after a really long day and wishing more than
anything that I was talking with all of you. The agenda would be long and
varied with Briggsy trying to keep us on the straight and narrow and Dave
happily pursuing slight (major) diversions. So here goes in no particular
order - the virtual agenda:

- The world cup - can Australia win?
- Will Geelong finally take the cup after more than 40 years or will the
Power take it for the second time?
- NRL - do we care or does the thought of those silver tailed Sea Eagles
knocking off the Storm upset us all
- Anna - finally got the top job. Is it a case of the kiss of death or the
poisoned chalice?
- Kevin 07 - have he and we peaked too soon?
- Qld Public Service changes - who will be the next DG to go?

Just a start but am hoping that you are all keen.

As for the Brisbane gang, I am really keen that we catch up soon. Let's get
thru the holidays and then negotiate re dinner at my place!

Love to all
Cathy

Hi There, Brains People!

It is getting late here and I haven't done my homework yet... and I have
homework because I am teaching ESL five days a week! It is a really good
job, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. No great surprise then that
we are BLOODY moving again! Back to Singers around xmas time. I will be
sorry to lose another job; and to leave our gorgeous neighbourhood with
lovely neighbours etc. But "this is what we do"; and Sg is closer to
everything Oz-style, so it is a welcome move.

More shortly. ps I loved the Keating thingy!
love

Dear all
Great to get the news update and the agenda items.
I will shortly be sending an invitation for YouTube. While the blog allows the posting of pics, YouTube allows videos. It's dead simple but you have to get a log on, unless you makes posts public in which case anyone can see them. Fiona and i can then 'particpate' in the dinner at Cath's!?
Big hugs
F
