Dear Colleagues,
Dr. Julien Benoit and Amélie Beaudet will be organising a symposium on paleoneurology at the next IPC conference to be held in Cape Town (nov-dec 2026, see attached circular and summary below). They are now in the process of looking for colleagues who would be interested in presenting at this symposium.
Please feel free to spread the news and/or to answer directly to beaudet...@gmail.com if you are interested.
Sincerely,

Title: Paleoneurology, cognition, and behaviour of vertebrates, from fish to hominins.
Organisers: Julien Benoit (Wits) & Amélie Beaudet (CNRS/U. Poitiers)
Keynote speaker: Mary Silcox (U. Toronto)
Keynote talk title: 20+ years since the microCT revolution: refining methods and ideas in the study of the mammalian nervous system
Summary of Symposium: The study of the evolutionary history of the vertebrate central nervous system, which is uniquely complex and governs all the higher functions of the body, is crucial for deciphering the origin of the human mind. This symposium welcomes contributions on the evolution of the vertebrate neurosensory system and behaviour, including (but not limited to) research on the fossil and modern brain, inner ear, sense organs, and, when relevant, trace fossils and stone tools.
