We are excited to announce the first TIBBE Seminar of the Series
Topic: Brain size, neuron number, and connectivity
Date: Tuesday, April 22, 2025
Time:
7 AM Seattle | 10 AM Baltimore | 3 PM UK | 4 PM Paris/Prague
Seminar on Theory in Brain Evolution Research:
Should brain size continue to be used as a measure of ‘behavioural flexibility’, or should neuron count be the go-to metric for cognition?
This event brings together two outstanding evolutionary neuroscientists to explore this question through presentations and an open discussion with the audience.
Kristina Kverková (Charles University, Czech Republic)
"Counting what counts: Why neuron numbers matter but are not the whole story"
Kei Yamamoto (Paris-Saclay, France)
"Different encephalization strategies: telencephalization in amniotes, mesencephalization in teleost fish"
Hosted by: Katja Heuer & Carmen Falcone
This seminar is part of the launch of TIBBE – The Integrative Biology of Brain Evolution network. TIBBE brings together researchers from across disciplines to explore brain evolution, exchange ideas, share tools and data, and discuss new findings.
