Hi,

Please forgive me if this has already been answered earlier. Someone had posted about p-memory... does anyone know if it is legit? I'm acquainted with the usual memory techniques (method of loci, major system, and so on) and am curious if this is any different.

Thanks

It's legit and there is another topic concerning a Pmemory study group.

There's a camp here that thinks P-memory is legit but admits that its
image is negatively effected by its cheesy marketing techniques.
There's also a camp here that claims its bullshit but I highly doubt
they've ever used it or have any proof other than the image problem I
just mentioned.

Yeah I just went to the site. "It's not a gift, it's a skill". What a
careless statement. I hope the program is not as careless.

I think the point they are trying to make with that statement is, that it can be taught and you don't have to be gifted to gain the skill. I don't understand how that's careless?

$297? Shenanigans. I call shenanigans.

If someone wants to email me the course material for free, I'll be
happy to try it and see how quickly my life changes when I can
suddenly learn new languages effortlessly, memorize every number in my
phone book, command incredible focus, and even recite an entire book
forwards and backwards in as little as 60 days from
today....guaranteed.

What's funny is the quote actually goes like this:

"How Quickly Would Your Life Change If You
Could Suddenly Learn New Languages Effortlessly,
Memorize Every Number In Your Phone Book,
Command Incredible Focus, And Even Recite
An Entire Book Forwards AND Backwards...
In As Little As 60 Days From Today... Guaranteed?"

It's a rhetorical question, and it's funny... guaranteed.

My wallet would attack me if I paid for this.

But, exaggeration (marketing) does not discredit the actual system
learned. If you learned an advanced mnemonic system you would have at
your disposal a way of recalling vast amounts of information.
Learning languages and complicated information would not be
*effortless* by any means. It seems the more effort you put in, the
greater your rewards.

I was required to spend $300 at least on completely worthless college
classes like "career success". When I think about it, I would spend
that much to learn an advanced memorization (mnemonic) system with one-
on-one skype access.

Before investing in expensive memory improvement programs, I suggest
reading "Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering
Everything" by
Joshua Foer, who was a national memory champion.
