I was wandering around this group and couldn't find anything really
defined on the subject. Has anyone on here had experience with image
streaming or is it the consensus that the practice isn't really
effective?

i am glad you asked. i asked once, but wasnt given very specific
references.
:)
but if you do a search in this forum, you WILL find several posts
about it.

but it would be nice to have several references with detailed
explanations as to the entire process.

i know it wasnt the image streaming i thought it was (which was trying
to remember the order of say, 50 images flashed in front of you)

now i wouldnt mind a program like that--i need to work on my visual
memory.

Essentially all it is is you imagining things in your minds eye with
as much detail and clarity as possible using your five senses, making
(at least in the advanced stages) attempts to manipulate the image
while maintaining clarity and detail noting and describing everything
you see as you see it.

Yeah, that is pretty much all it is. The idea is that by
simultaneously stimulating the parts of the mind used for processing
the senses with the parts of the mind used for creating and
comprehending speech, you can increase the connectivity between these
areas, and thus speed up thinking etc. I read this article:
http://www.winwenger.com/ebooks/guaran.htm and I've been doing it
for a good few months. I'd say it's really good for exercising
creativity, but not so much analytical skill: it makes you better at
things like creative writing, where you need your ideas to flow
rapidly, but not chess, where you often need to squelch your stream of
consciousness to focus on one thing (this is all in my unscientific
opinion). Also, I've noticed it makes you better at reading, as it
trains your brain to simultaneously process language and visualize
whats being said.

And check out the part about breathing span and reading comprehension.
Supposedly you can increase your attention span by practicing under
water swimming. Judge for yourselves.
