This sounds fascinating. Great discovery!
You should think about
tracking your progress with this new method and seeing if there are improvements in WM and/or other life areas.
If you can show significant improvements, more people will jump on board with your method - I know I would.
Currently, I fear that this method is only adding more of a cognitive flexibility and/or inhibitory control challenge.
I'm looking to improve my
working memory capacity and straining to remember more items seems like the way to go (
think: weightlifting). This method, at least in the beginning, will have me straining to
juggle the items backward but, ultimately, forcing me play at
lower N-Back levels for months.
Even if it is ultimately equal to the standard rehearsal method, and you can get back to your current n-back level, the months of lost progress would not have been worth it (at least for me). The new method must be significantly better overall to warrant the extra effort.
Great work mate.
