Any positive results from Dual N-Back training regardless of format? Specifically improvements on measures of fluid Intelligence. Real life results? If not why keep trying?

it seems to make some difference.. though not very big or easily quantifiable.
based on conversations on this forum... it may benefit those people more who have some deficits to begin with, say ADHD.
For people with normal brain, it may not offer much. I guess people with good working memory soon reach D5B and beyond while people with deficits struggle barely touch this level. difficulty many begin at d4b itself!

so you can try it to figure out which group you belong to and then decide whether to invest time on it or not.

People who are likely to benefit more are usually also the ones who are least likely to do this.. my personal opinion.
Reason being they tire more quickly, it is more boring for them. it's a bigger struggle for them.
it's like a first day in the gym, person with below average health/muscle tone will find it tougher to work out on those machines.. though he is the one who would improve the most! He is the one who should most definitely do it (if he wishes the capabilities that others enjoy so casually, without doing much about it)

and dear friend from your wording.. i see some hurriedness.. and get it quick attitude... my guess is that it will be harder for you than other people to engage with it. But this also means you may benefit more than average people.
and I may be completely wrong. I guessed just to help you.

I am of the view that DNB optimizes pre-frontal cortex functioning. Google pre-frontal cortex, read up on its functions.

My own personal experience is that DNB allows me to process complex and novel information/experiences with greater ease and less (or no) stress. DNB has also contributed to greater clarity of mind, and a significant reduction in, and oftentimes no, mental confusion. All of this enhances problem solving, social interaction, and the quality of day-to-day living.

That said, if you are already a high functioning individual then DNB probably isnt going to make much difference for you, your PFC is already optimized. But if you feel you are not functioning at your best then I recommend DNB.

In my case I had over the years become mentally lazy. Within just a couple of days I felt DNB had begun to reawaken the PFC.

But just like exercising 5 days a week to stay fit, I suspect it is the same with DNB training. It needs to be ongoing (3x20min sessions per week) to maintain benefits.

Without a doubt. I started training 2 months ago and i can see an obvious difference. My short term memory and reading comprehension is ridiculously better and i'm only up to 4-back. Many people bash n-back, but i think those are the people who didn't have the dicipline to continue long enough to see any benefits. I mean, if you do a long enough session you will feel your brain get fatigued. Also my dreams are more vivid than ever since i started n-back.
