This is the only google group I'm joined to right now.  Just a minute ago I googled my own email address and it popped up in another website that collects and sorts posts from newsgroups.  I would much prefer it if my email address would not link to those posts.

The subscription information on this group claims that other users can see my email address.  Isn't there some way to change this?

Anyone?

how do you see the email address?

in the old forum group, you used to be able to 'see' the email address, profile, posts of the individual, etc--how do you do this now? it seems everything is hidden.

At least I have the option to click: More options -> then click the
dots after the email adress -> type the code.

Unfortunately, according to Google,
"Other members of this group can find your email address. Anyone who knows your email address could discover your Google Profile."

Even though email addresses are generally concealed within the group (even if you're joined), those of you wondering why this is a problem should simply type the email addy you use for this group into Google Search.  I found each and every one of my posts on another site called "World Max Press" and just today another site is picking them up: "osdir.com."  It's not just my posts, it's everyone here.

I do not know why these sites are replicating the posts from this forum, but they are, and apparently there is no way to contact the person(s) responsible.

why not use a dummy email just for use in this group.. if privacy is a big concern!

Obviously I thought of the dummy address, but apparently a bit too late.  I already had 10 posts here with my "common use" email addy, and they are now stored permanently on some strange websites.  Other forums I've been on in the past have my common use addy and those posts don't show up in Internet searches.  I'll admit to not thinking before acting, but that's the norm for me...

In other words, the damage has already been done.  I was inquiring along the lines of "what the heck is going on with those replicated posts," as the sites they're on have no contact information, etc etc

Sorry if I came across as condescending. Treat my words with levity, I never mean to be in poor taste.

Because of my own sometimes very paranoid nature, I've also worried about it  and hence that's why I use a ventriloquists doll. 'World Max Press', I refuse to let you see my mouth move!

Apart from following the above route I'm afraid I can't be of any help, however if you manage to come up with something, please don't hesitate in sharing with us all (but of course - do so discretely....).

Kindly,

Michael
