Hi Ed,

The DXP and DXB file formats are proprietary formats to Duxbury Systems.
To my knowledge there is no open source tool.

Send me the files off list and I can make the conversions.

With best regards,

James.

Subject: Braillists Forum: DXP to BRF

Hi all

I have been tasked with finding out how to convert DXP files
to BRF files. The users do not have Duxbury and it isn't an
option.

1) Does anyone know of an Open Source or at least free tool
for converting between these formats?

2) Does anyone who about the structure of the DXP format? Is
it, for example, a kind of archive file that happens to contain
a Braille ascii text file in there somewhere (I should be so
lucky!)

Thanks

Ed

Thanks James. I thought as much, but you never know, there may be an
enterprising developer somewhere.

The files I have are just examples so there's no value in converting
them. The process was the point. But thank you for offering.

Are there other programs that output in DXP? I am trying to work out why
an organisation would have a lot of Duxbury files without having a copy
of Duxbury, and therefore unable to output to BRF through DBT.

Thanks

Ed

Hi Ed,

The only other program I know of would be the free, Perky Duck program.

That's the solution if no Duxburyis available: download Perky Duck, Open
the file and then Save As and choose BRF.

No reverse engineering required :)
Hope this helps.

With best regards,

James.
