Revival of Veda Paata Shala at Thiruvanaikoil

Please see mail received from Sri Narayana Swamy regarding revival of Veda Paata Shala at Thiruvanaikoil.

Kanchi Mahaperiyava lived here for few years and has built a temple.  It was once a full fledged veda paata shala which is now without a patronage hence needs support of all asthikas.

Those interested may kindly support.

Dear Vasudevan, Ram..Ram..I am glad vedapatasala at Thiruvanaikoil sankaramutt
has been revived after two years  as gap..Sri Subramania Ganapadigal who is in
mid..twenties has taken over as ADHYAPAKH Over 10 vidhyarthees below 7 years  of age
from distant locations have joined.

I am appending the mail received from my relative SriR.Subramanian,chennai..about the  present status 
of the mutt..It is regrettable vedhapatasalai where Mahaperiyavaa learnt is not-s0-happy
situation though being located in heart of Tiruchy town..

It is proposed to form new trust to undertake the running of patasalai
and as it will take some more time to materialise, Sri Subramanian is acting
adhoc manager and he deserves our assistance. 

You may consider the request and inform me and Srisubramanian

Dear...Mani,....Glad to see your mail. Sringeri Mutt in Srirangam at Ammamandapam main road was in shambles
and in dilapidated state two decades ago till Sri Ramanarasu who was Chief correspondent of THE HINDU tookup
the revival plan as DHARMATHIKARI  of Sringeri mutt..Now Srirangam Sringeri Mutt is full of activities daily
with Saradhambal koil attracting a lot of people Kalyanamandapam in the mutt premises is one of the best
kalyanamandapams in Srirengam.
We should find two or three dedicated persons who can pool resources,  based at Tiruchy periphery..I will
share your burden to the extent possible..

with the grace of MAHAPERIYAVAA I am confident your efforts will suceed soon.

It was nice talking to you today about the proposed initiative to revive and support the veda paatashaala in Sri Sanakra Matam of Tiruvanaikoil

As you may be aware, decades back Mahaperiyava Jagadguru Shri Chandrashekarandra Saraswathy lived there for few years in the Mutt. He has also built  the beautiful temple for Shri Panchamukheswarar inside the mutt premises.  Once upon a time it was a famous full-fledged Veda Paatashaala in our state. It produced many Vedic Pandits in the past. Though the paatashaala was run by the matam, there was very good support from outside too. In course of time, due to lack of patronage and material support from our society the paatashaala  became inactive. Now, one Shri Subramaniya Ganapatigal, has come with his family in May 2012 to this matam and has started teaching in Gurukulam model. There are now eleven young students (most of them 5 or 6 yrs in age)  are learning Veda in this paatashaala. With Shri Mahaperiyava's blessings, it looks like there is a new lease of life for the paatashaala.

The organising committee of the matam is providing accommodation, food and other basic amenities to the Guru's family and vidhyaarthis.

However, for meeting additional expenses like veda books & note books for students, conducting sadhas, arranging for pravachanam/upanyasam, special homams and travel arrangements for the vidhyaarthis to Sri Matam, Kanchi (and other temples) we are planning for external support.

The estimate is about 50k per month to cover all the above in today's cost of living.

Myself and couple of my friends decided to help this cause on monthly basis by donating Rs.300/= per month. (Rs.10 per day).  The well wishers may pay this amount every month thro' standing instruction or donate a lump sum also. There are already 5 enrolments since we started this on 15th Oct.
