Dear Saket:

It was indeed a pleasure meeting you at your office while you were in Delhi.

At Brahma we are committed to creating the highest quality notebooks in India and the world. You had advised us that our website was underpar and based on your recommendation we have spent the past few days revamping the website. The website is to go live by this week, we are closing the majority of changes today.

I would appreciate it if you could take a look and give any recommendations, brief as they may be. This way we can incorporate your feedback into our website. Ideally if these come in today they will be programmed by tomorrow.

What takes Rubberband 3 years to do, takes us 3 days :)

I am collecting Mastercard Red samples for you and will get them to you shortly. I look forward to your feedback on the website. Thanks....

Hi

Few quick suggestions

1)    Font usage: Font usage could be bit modern – some suggestions here http://www.creativebloq.com/typography/best-free-web-fonts-1131610

a.     Personal recommendation from above link: Tikal Sans

b.     Secondly, lot of fonts are bold on your website thus taking away from the design element

2)    Page Layout

a.     One of my requests would be to see http://www.myntra.com/ website

                                          i.    They are Indian website but the way they invite the user in from their home page is worth a mention

ii.    Though they don’t sell notebooks, but are a great benchmark in design & layout

b.     Home Page: Should have a write up on BB as soon one is on the landing page, this way straight taking him/her on the BB journey

c.     Store Page: The sections should be ideally only Amateur, Writers, Maths, Economy, Professional (in reverse order starting with Professional)

                                          i.    Once some clicks on it he/ she can see Hard/ Soft cover, 200/ 400 line

ii.    The lead photos should ideally be your A5 which are actually most common

iii.    The photos of the books can be better, so as to see the texture outside & page color/ ruling inside

iv.    The zoom version of the books is pixelated (so leaves a bad impression)

1.     E.g. http://www.myntra.com/Belts/Arrow/Arrow-Men-Black-Brown-Reversible-Belt/41253/buy?nav_id=26&searchQuery=men-belts-suspenders&serp=1&uq=false#

2.     Though this is not like to like comparison, here you can see the texture etc.

3.     A user like me will definitely like to see everything in detail before taking a decision

a.     E.g. http://www.moleskine.com/en/collections/model/product/notebook-pocket-squared-orange-yellow-hard

d.     Photography:

                                          i.    There is lot to be done in photography

ii.    The most intuitive way one judges the notebook is how it will look lying on the desk with a pen etc.

iii.    A good way to photograph would be place it with a high end phone e.g. Samsung S3/ iPhone

iv.    Add a high quality pen e.g. Waterman/ Parker/ Shaeffer and even Mont Blanc

                                         v.    This way by default BB is pegged with high end products

That’s it for now. These are just suggestions. More from a fan perspective and also from a fair amount of experience in branding etc.

Dear Saket:

I have identified a red in a very nice soft high quality cover material and am in the process of making several sample for you. If you would like us to include Mastercard branding in your samples, let us discuss, if this will help you visualize the final product. Also I need to know if you need the rubberband, envelope or not, and hard cover versus soft cover. All of these have cost implications. We are creating the samples this week, so your involvement in the discussion will be key to get you the precise types of samples you need for your organization to take this forward.

Based on your recommendations, we have done a new photoshoot for the Brahma Books website. This time with designer pens and phones and so on and with a very good aesthetic. Will have the website up shortly with the new photos and look forward to your feedback then.

Let me know your thoughts on the kind of samples you need. Thanks...

Thanks for taking a look at the suggestions

Do review the below suggestions esp. ii to iv as well

ii.    The most intuitive way one judges the notebook is how it will look lying on the desk with a pen etc. so photograph needs to be with a book on the desk

iv.    Add a high quality pen e.g. Waterman/ Parker/ Shaeffer and even Mont Blanc

Hi Saket:

We have just done a photoshoot and are yet to upload those pictures. Once the new photos are up the site will look a lot better.

I looked at Myntra, however it seems very busy and commercial. They have too much happening and all the coupons etc make it look like a glossy magazine.

We are removing the bolds from the fonts. Changing some of the fonts as per your recommendations. I like your idea of showing only the main lines and putting the hard and soft covers in the inside page. We will do that.

All the images will be changed.

The zoom was installed yesterday and the lower res web optimized images are up. We will replace all the images shortly. The zoom will show non pixalated images. Also we will be showing 3 images for each product underneath the larger image so the user can switch images.

It will take us 2-3 days to have this round of changes done, but it may be up tomorrow, will let you know.

Thanks for your participation and feedback...
