I'm always looking to add new features, make conversation and
information exchange easier and find ways to connect people. However,
I'd like to know how important these things are to you: how important
is group chat? I would like to add Campfire to the list of tools we
use, but I don't want to add something that's not very important to
the group.

http://campfirenow.com to read more about it, but here's a basic
overview.

1. This chat would be instant. It would be online, accessible in-part
to all members, with special rooms and features for subscribed
members.

2. It has iPhone/mobile accessibility.

3. It's archived, searchable, databased, and users can read messages
backlogged (ie conversations a person ISN'T PRESENT FOR can be read in
the Archives).

4. Files can be "attached" in chat, images AUTOMATICALLY appear,
ensuring that everyone is referring to the "same things."

5. Files are saved in Archives, so shared PDFs and images/diagrams
will remain available.

ONCE or more per week, there will be general Q&A sessions, where
topics can be discussed and material can be shared. New FRs can be
reviewed. Occasionally, an "advanced" topic can be covered in-detail,
from anchoring to micro-calibration. Missed a "meeting?" No problem,
just read the archive! Got a question to ask about something that was
discussed during a Campfire chat that you've missed? Send it as a
message and we'll link it into the chat!

LMK. Thanks all.

I think it would be a very valuable tool for us to come together maybe
a few times a week to talk about a topic. That way we can share new
techniques, critique each other's failures, etc in real time, not via
forum posts which takes FOREVER.

It's not the time that it takes on forum; that's not the issue for me.
The lack of markup sucks, yes... but we'd have that at Campfire as
well. What I'm not thrilled with is the lack of information control.
There are certain things that I'm sure people don't want to share with
EVERYONE in the world... for instance, someone wants to know about a
fetish, whether or not it's normal, but I'm sure that he/she doesn't
want his or her boss or family reading about it, seeing it or hearing
about it.

Some stuff should just be off-limits to the general public, and
personally, I've worked pretty hard on the material that I've come up
with and I wouldn't want it exploited, stolen, or used by malicious
men and callous people.

I'm glad for the early-adopter support that I've been getting for the
introduction of Campfire chat. It'll likely cost no more than $10 per
person per month, and will include a set-calendar of meeting times,
"guest events," and a general room for everyone, anytime, for
basically whatever.
