By Warren Howeler
The Coronavirus, or COVID-19, has come to Bradford County, according to a statement put out by County Commissioner Chairman Daryl Miller on Tuesday.
“Bradford County officials and the PA Department of Health are announcing the first presumptive positive case of the COVID-19 Coronavirus in Bradford County today,” Miller said. “The PA Department of Health is continuing to monitor the individual and identify anyone with whom they may have been in close contact with.”
No other details regarding the patient will be released in order to “protect their privacy,” said Miller.
“Bradford County has been preparing for the COVID-19 virus with the anticipation that it would likely make its way to our county,” he said. “We want to remind everyone that you can take simple steps to help prevent the spread of this virus.”
Among those steps are:
—Washing your hands often.
—Cover coughs and sneezes.
—Don’t touch your face.
—Clean frequently touched surfaces.
—Stay home if you are sick.
—Avoid sick people.
“If you feel that you have symptoms such as fever, cough and shortness of breath, please stay home and call your health care provider for further instructions on how to get tested,” said Miller. “This is an evolving situation which will require constant monitoring.”
The latest information and updates regarding the Coronavirus in Bradford County are available on the county department of public safety’s Facebook page or on the county’s webpage at bradfordcountypa.org, said Miller.
