Hi everyone,
The Shapiro DEP "environmental justice" advisory board is having a virtual meeting on August 15 8:30 am – 3:00 pm. Their NEPA in-person meeting was cancelled.
There will be a virtual participation link available on the website below. "The EJAB will convene in a hybrid format virtually and in the Delaware Room of the Rachel Carson State Office Building, 400 Market Street, Harrisburg, PA and begin at 8:30 a.m."
My thought: there have been 414 fracking permits issued by the Shapiro DEP since his inauguration through 7/27/23, about 3-4 permits per business day. Violations, including well casing violations which endanger groundwater, are cited regularly. How can we take the DEP seriously on environmental justice when the gas industry is still allowed to run rampant under the new boss, same as the old boss? Where is the scrutiny he promised?
