Michael,
If the group does camp out that way...Here is some private information I jotted down during my last camping trip to Panther Creek (2 years ago) and shared with my CycleWild friends last summer.
WATER:
- the water point nearest to the entry is very turbid so I would avoid it for drinking and instead use the one closer to the river. The HooDoo staff said they test it monthly and it has had no "problems", but as a former water volunteer for the Peace Corps I would suggest avoiding it if it is still turbid. (It may now be ok later in the season.)
EXTRA CAMP SITES:
- if for some reason you all need another camp site to book at the last minute, try #33 which does not appear on the map of the reservation site.
CARSON:
- Carson has a new brewpub (Backwoods Brewing), next to the Post Office
- The supermarket (Carson General Store) is very well stocked and priced fairly and open late, so one can ride with less weight and good selection of basic fresh produce for a small remote market
- Umpqua Bank now has an ATM in town
- There is a hardware store too (limited hours)
STEVENSON
- the mexican restaurant by the tracks has closed
- there is a new bar and restaurant by the ferry dock (it replaced another bar) on 130 SW Cascade (nice place to have a beer and food on the back deck (but poor & slow service)
- the supermarket is still open
