In the latest blog on supple tires, Jan Heine stated

"In Bicycle Quarterly's tire tests, the five fastest tires ranged in width from 24 to 36 mm, but they all had one thing in common: a supple casing."

I do not have any issue with this, but would like to know how a regular Panaracer Pasela stacked up against the top 5 tires, which I am assuming were Compass tires (made by Panaracer).

As a second question, has anyone switched from Pasela to Compass tires and what type of improvement did you get?.  I use 700x32 Paselas and would use the same in a Compass tire.

That is an incorrect assumption.

The Pasela--at least the non TG version--is actually a pretty supple tire. BQ had a summary of their tire testing at one point, all listed out in a bar graph. The Pasela had about the same rolling resistance as the Hetre, which kind of kicked off the whole "wide supple 650B" modern tire movement.

Having ridden both Compass tires and Paselas, I would say if a Compass tire is 5/5 for suppleness, the Pasela is 4/5.

Eric, thanks for your comparison of Compass vs Pasela..  I remember a BQ test 6 or  years ago, where both a Pasela and Gatorskin scored low rolling resistances.  But the Compass tires were not available then ad the Hetre was considered the best.  I thought BQ may have updated the tests since then
