Hello, everyone!
I hope the school year is going well for you and your kiddos so far!
A reminder to all that
during this Tuesday, October 28th, 6 - 8 PM's meeting on
Zoom, we will be holding
special elections to elect all three members of the Leadership Team’s
Diversity & Inclusion squad: one Co-Chair and two Assistant Co-Chairs.
Additionally, we will also be nominate and elect a Communications Assistant Co-Chair. This is a newly-open position! You can read descriptions of these positions in the
linked bylaws here and below (navigate to Article IV, sections e, f and g).
For this special election to take place, we will need to have a quorum of CPC members present, which our bylaws define as 25% of all BPS schools with an elected representative. So please come!
Before the elections, we will be welcoming members from the
Opportunity Gaps Department, who will be explaining a new strategic planning initiative for which they would like CPC members and meeting attendees to encourage their schools to participate in information gathering.
SPECIAL ELECTION INFORMATION
- You may nominate yourself, another CPC representative, or any other BPS parent or caregiver
- Nominees must be present during the meeting during which the elections are held to be elected
- A CPC representative may run for more than one office in the same election, but they may not hold more than one office simultaneously
- A co-chair must not be:
- An employee within BPS central office, including the cabinet or executive level of BPS
- A member of the Boston Teachers Union
- A member of the Boston School Committee
- An employee of the Education department or division of the Mayor's Office
If, after reading the documents above, you are interested or know of someone who would be a wonderful addition to the team,
you may nominate yourself or any other BPS parent or caregiver (they don’t have to be a CPC representative!) prior to the meeting by sending an email to
citywidepa...@gmail.com with the name of the person nominated and affiliated school. Otherwise, all nominations will be made during the meeting.
Note that nominees MUST be in attendance at Tuesday’s meeting to be elected.
Please contact us with any questions or comments you may have.
P.S. We are aware that our meeting coincides with Mayor Wu’s State of Schools address. If this creates an issue for you because you want to run for a position but have to be at the address, please contact us to see if we can devise a plan to make it happen.
Many thanks,
Betsy Yoshimura
