Dear all,

Thank you to everyone who joined our January 27 CPC meeting! It is always so heartening to spend an evening with such a great group of people.

Briefly: The meeting included important updates on BPS priority registration; a presentation from Chief of Student Support Cory McCarthy that highlighted mental health, mentoring, sports, and family resources; and an in-depth discussion of the district’s FY27 budget outlook with Chief Financial Officer David Bloom.

We engaged in a very robust conversation about the proposed shift to a new school funding formula, which raised significant questions about transparency, enrollment trends, and potential impacts on paraprofessionals and inclusion supports across schools. Mr. Bloom shared next steps and committed to publishing additional budget materials for review.
