Since we were talking about transportation woes last week, I thought this email from EDU WATCH would be of interest and might provide some good contacts with whom to team up if you end up needing to band together to advocate for the BPS students who use BPS transportation and their families.

As a bonus, here is the escalation image from our slide deck!

Below are excerpts/links to anecdotes from BPS staff and parents regarding the deplorable situation with BPS Transportation. This, yet somehow Superintendent Skipper deliberately chose, despite the warning of the Inspector General, to continue using the same Transportation provider.

"Hey everyone! Remember my post about the bus that showed up hours late? This bus hasn’t had an assigned driver in weeks. There are 2 wheelchair students, one student who needs medical care at a designated time and one student who has limited communication. That bus STILL HAS NOT ARRIVED AT Fenway High today (current time 6:00pm- dismissal  3:35pm)and apparently the bus just left the FREEPORT yard- so the bus probably won’t get there until 6:45pm.
UPDATE the bus just left Fenway at 7:00pm"

"Hi BPS! A bus still hasn’t picked up door to door special needs students (one is a wheelchair student) at Fenway High School. It’s now 6:02pm. School is released at 3:35pm. Parents can’t leave work or don’t have a car. This is not uncommon. Buses aren’t covered - so kids are stranded and teachers and administrators are still at school after hours. None of these kids/ staff are home with their families, eating dinner, doing homework, spending time. This is not ok! It happens all too often!!"
