Hi, all!
It was fantastic to meet so many new BPS families during our last meeting, and I also loved that we had participants who were not elected representatives but simply interested parties who came to find out what we’re all about! Please continue to encourage your school community to join us throughout the year.
This Tuesday the 18th, we will be meeting again from 6-8pm on Zoom. We will be welcoming Manager of Policy Stacy Guerrero from the Office of Opportunity Gaps to explore opportunities for additional school engagement, and possibly (hopefully!) Executive Director Pam Bailey and Assistant Director Lisette Santiago from the Office of Family & Community Advancement regarding updates, family resources and family liaisons.
During our October meeting, we welcomed new CPC representatives, attempted to hold elections for three Diversity & Inclusion Co-Chair positions (Co-Chair and two Assistant Co-Chairs) but were unable as we did not achieve quorum (we were close, though!), and discussed a variety of topics during our Open Floor session. We still need to elect our Diversity & Inclusion chairs, so take a look at the descriptions in the bylaws that are linked above and the pertinent slides in our slide deck, and throw your (or someone else’s) hat in the ring if you would like to join the leadership team. A reminder that you do NOT need to be an elected representative to run for the leadership team, so if you know any parent or caregiver you think would be a good fit, send them our way.
