The next meeting of the Bloomfield Public Library Book Club will be on Monday, January 6th from 6:45 until 7:45 PM in the Quiet Study Room. The topic of discussion will be The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure: The “Good Parts” Version, Abridged by William Goldman.
The subtitle, of course, is a joke. There is no S. Morgenstern. This book tells an imaginary story about a famous Hollywood writer named William Goldman trying to share a “Florinese classic” with his ten-year-old son. What he actually ends up sharing is “the good parts.”
The Princess Bride is a delightfully funny tale about a brave hero, a dastardly villain, and the most beautiful girl in the world. It also has miracles, riddles, sword fights, and chocolate. The 1987 film version starred Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Wallace Shawn, Mandy Patinkin, and Andre the Giant.
For further information or to request help in locating a copy of the book club selection, please call the Reference Desk at 973-566-6200, ext 502. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend. The Library is barrier-free.
