The next meeting of the Bloomfield Public Library Book Club will be on Monday, September 8th from 6:45 until 7:45 PM in the Quiet Study Room. The topic of discussion will be Goodbye, Mr. Chips by James Hilton.
Arthur Chipping is not a brilliant scholar but he loves the classics and he tries to share that love with his students. For over sixty years, through war and peace, triumph and tragedy, this shy and unassuming man always tries to do his best. The influence “Mr. Chips” has on generations of young men is quietly profound. James Hilton’s classic story celebrates the virtues of courage, integrity, decency and kindness.
First published in 1934, Goodbye, Mr. Chips has remained one of the author’s most beloved works, on a par with Random Harvest and Lost Horizon. Film versions starred Robert Donat, Peter O’Toole, and Martin Clunes.
