The single greatest indicator of a child's academic success is the education of his or her parents. Yet many children have less of a chance to succeed, right from the start, because their parents can't read or write.  You can make a difference in the life of an adult who wants to learn to speak English or improve his reading and writing skills.  Literacy Volunteers of New Jersey, Essex & Passaic Counties, is seeking volunteer tutors to teach English for Speakers of Other Languages and basic literacy skills.  No experience is necessary, just the willingness to reach out and help a motivated learner.  Tutors must be at least 18 years of age.  Please register for one of the following tutor training workshops at the Bloomfield Public Library: Saturdays, October 25, November 8, 15, 22, 2014, 12:15-4:45 pm.
