The PPT gives rough idea about bioplastics.

And go through the links they give details about the use of bioplastics in automobile industry.

It's a pretty good idea, we can base our project entirely towards automobile products.

The following are all the applications of BioPlastics:

-Packaging and Plastic bags
-Fast food catering
-Textiles/fibres
-Toys
-Convenience
-Horticulture
-Agriculture
-Medicine
-Piping
-Automotive Industries
-Electronics
-Sports goods
-Others

Automobiles itself is quite a big industry that we can undertake, but the thing is, after checking a few more links i saw that manufacturing of its products require very expensive machinery and investments needed will be pretty high(for overall plant setup etc), unless we aim to only make the plastic moulds and give it to them, and then they modify it for their own products. But then again, that will be too restrictive and not very profitable.

I'd say we rather go for something like packaging, or household products or sports goods or something, which gives our company room to grow bigger on a longer duration, ie we can always increase production of individual units/products, or expand to similar products without much change in machinery etc.

What final products should we be focusing on manufacturing according to you guys?

Packaging and Plastic bags, fast food catering and agriculture can be our main focus area as they are the fields which utilise synthetic plastics the most, according to me. But the profit will be less as our prices will be high.

Bioplastic as such on its own is not mechanically strong.
PLA is also not thermal resistance. So currently bioplastics are used as co polymers.
So we need to target such industries which need a green factors.
So we should focus on :
1) pure bioplastic for making disposable cutlery, agricultural mulch sheets and  food packing wrappers.
2) supplying the bioplastic in a mold form to automobile industries and electronics industry.

what grade of bioplastic are we producing???
are we focussing on one?? 'cause i read an article that says bioplastics can absorb moisture and thus cannot be used as liquid containers..

Are you sure Srihita. Post the link on which you read that fact that bioplastics absorbs moisture.
Because if it were so why the hell would coke help setting up a bioplastic plant.
where cokes primary aim is to make containers for storing liquid !!

@ srihita. i guess Bob Wilson isn't true after all.

FOR ALL THOSE WHO DON'T WANT TO CHECK THE LINK

GUYS YOU CAN USE PLA (BIOPLASTIC) TO MAKE WATER BOTTLES.

but still my question is: are we targeting a specific product or a range ???

i think we should target range of products where we can produce pure Bioplastic and also make copolymers that are required by specific industries.
@all junta    what say?

ya but a coke bottle will require a grade of plastic very different from one used in automobile parts... do we have the technical expertise to do that???

Arey to it's not like we'll produce both coke bottles and automobiles. It'll be like bottles+containers or something/

Yes we will be producing more than 1 product, having similar material. Now the point is, choose which product range we should be pursuing!
