Hey All,
I have about 70% of the Lao Language completed for BPBible. The other is just not able to translate at this time, mostly because it isn’t needed.
However I am receiving an error message when I load BPBible in to the Lao Language. Just for your note (ເກີດຂໍ້ຜິດພາດ) Means Error in Lao, so At least I know some of the script is working. It will not continue loading at this time. Any Ideas.
The Font I am using is an Unicode font and I have the language format to be set to UFT-8 Formatting.
Here is the Error Bellow:
ເກີດຂໍ້ຜິດພາດ
ValueError: unsupported format character '?' (0xeaa) at index 2
ເກີດຂໍ້ຜິດພາດ
ValueError: unsupported format character '?' (0xe82) at index 1

Someone on the Sword Project developer list suggested “It seems most likely that it is an encoding error (e.g. that some of the strings in the file are not valid UTF-8). These kinds of encoding issues aren't always easy to track down.”
Let me know, Thanks,
Tom

Ben,
Thanks for your help. I have attached a Zip file of the Local, in the Zip file you will see an MX Font zip file. That file holds the Font that is need to read the Lao Language. I also included the bible translation of the books of the bible. However the Abbreviations is still not completed I am waiting on getting the official abbreviations from the Lao Bible Society.
God Bless,
Tom
Ben,
Thanks for your help! I will let you know when it is all up-to-date with more translation. However I know that the local church will start to use it soon.
Blessings,
Hey Ben,

I have also attached a screen shot of what I am doing before I get the error.
Thanks again for your help,
Hi Ben,
Great thanks for your help. I it is up and running now smoothly in Lao.
I have attached the most updated version of the Lao Local. It is about 75% translated, however I think it is able to be used for Lao people.
I will do some more testing on another computer to make sure it works well and then the plan is to install BPBible on multiple computers here for pastors and church members and then I will just add the Lao Local files manually and install the fonts need if they don’t have one already. If you can think of an easier way to install with the Lao Local, please let me know.
Blessings,
Hey Ben,
Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you about your last email. I had my Lao Engagement has part of my fiancé and I marriage application with the government and then had Midterm Exams for the English Classes I teach the week after. So I really haven’t had a chance to work on it yet.
I tried the steps you did on an Windows XP Computer and It did the same thing, half of the Interfaced showed Lao and the other half showed boxes. Thank you for figuring those steps out. I think Next week when I have a midterm break. I will try to change the fonts to another Unicode font and see if it does anything different. I know some other programs that use Unicode Fonts with applications so maybe I am just using the wrong font.
