Bonsoir mes amis,

I hope this email finds you all healthy and happy.  The committee was very excited to get our little camp going tomorrow this morning. We had 4 riders show up this morning, we rode the loop backwards. I'm not sure if it was safer or better. Tomorrow we will ride the normal direction. Reminder, I will not be available to lead the ride on the 18th because I will be working. If anybody is willing to step up and be the ride leader, I will happily handle email duties etc... There will be at least one bonus day, likely on Thursday for an additional 50 miles, The committee is still debating the exact day. Stay tuned Bat Fans... As the committee always says, the miles must be ridden, the form improved.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION:
As always, the rides will start at 5:30AM, we will meet in the alley between Owenhouse Cycling and Rockford Coffee Company. We will be riding the Working Dawgs training loop in the normal direction tomorrow. See the attached RidewithGPS file. There is gravel on this loop, so come prepared, it is rideable on a road bike. There are many places to cut this loop short and return to town early if work, family or life are interfering with your training. We are usually back in town around 8:15-8:30.  Although this is not a no-drop ride, we do stop ~4 times to let dropped riders catch back up and to regroup. The link below is for the traditional loop in the normal direction.

The forecast on the weather app on my Iphone says 57 degrees and cloudy at 5:30 and sunrise at 5:50. There is a high likelihood of rain tomorrow, as always if it is raining at 5:00am, I'm going back to bed and recommend you do the same.

The committee also really wants to raise money for Family Promise. If you donated during the May Camp, fantastic, consider yourself off the hook. If you didn't please do consider contributing. Along those lines Lucian and Jurgita Hand have stepped up again with a $1000 matching donation. There is also an additional anonymous $1000 matching donation. The committee wishes to thank Lucian and Jurgita and our anonymous donor for their generosity. This means if we can raise collectively at least $1000 Family Promise will get $3000 total. I know we can do this because we have far exceeded this in the past.

The committee is pleased to announce that Family Promise is our local charity for fundraising this year. This is an organization that helps many families in the Gallatin Valley in their very important mission.\

Please read below for a summary of their mission and goals

Our vision is  to end homelessness in the Gallatin Valley, one family at a time.

Our mission to empower families experiencing housing insecurities to secure a safe, affordable home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future for their children

Louis Ocana, Eddy Merckx and Raymond Poulidor, likelyt in the 1971 Tour De france. Ocana stormed into the lead and looked on his way to winning the Tour de France, when he crashed in the rain while descending the Cole de Menthe in the Pyrenees and had to drop out of the race, he came back and won in 1973. Merckx, is Merckx, the GOAT, 5 Tours, 5 Giros, 1 Vuelta, 3 world championships, all the monuments more than once. Raymond Poulidor, the eternal second, never led the Tour once, not even on the road. despite finishing 2nd x 3 and 3rd x 5. His grandson is a pro racer, you might have heard of him? Mathieu Van der Poel.
I hope to see you all tomorrow, July 14th at 5:30 am

IMG_2681.JPGHugo Koblet was a Working Dawg, Are you a Working Dawg? Koblet was known as the Pedeleur de Charme, he would carry eau de cologne and comb that he would use after he crossed the line. He had movie star good looks and married a model. He won the Tour de France in 1951 and the Giro in 1950. Philippe Brunel wrote in L'Equipe that at the end of his long ride to Agen in 1951, "followers were astonished to see him sit up, blow kisses to girls and take out of his pocket a sponge soaked in water. He was barely across the line when he rinsed his face in Perrier,[16] combed his hair, then started his stopwatch."[
I hope to see you all tomorrow at 5:30 am.
