Hey Psycho Crossers!

We are down to three races.  This week we start at 5:30!  Different Bat time, but same Bat place.  There is a throwback to one of the cheesiest, but most awesome super hero shows in history’s past. Remember to bring lights if you are cycling home.

I mentioned last time that whoever comes after the clown with Uphill Pursuits will have big shoes to fill!  Well, I want to thank Pursuit Cycles for stepping up….. (wait for it….). Seriously, thanks for hosting the series, doing prizes, and being part of our community.

This week our series is hosted by Owenhouse Cycling.  They mapped out the course and the route is named appropriately for CX.  Owenhouse is very Belgian apparently! (The course title did make me chuckle.  Nicely done!) The course is attached to this e-mail.  There are tools by the hand-up tent if you have a mechanical.  Unfortunately, trying to find a spare rider doesn’t count as a mechanical.

Also, I want to call attention to NICA bringing the flair each week.  Just note that when they take off they burn a flare!  However, in their presentation they bring the flair.

Please note that our sadist came back with a vengeance.  We tried to hold him back, but captivity bred more contempt.  We no longer have “just chicanes”, but we have chicanes in the sand pit!  It is supposed to be rainy so maybe that will make the sand more rideable, but I hear our course sadist laughing now celebrating and anticipating your misery.  Ride it with a smile and show him up!   If you are out there and it gets cold look at the bright side!  You can always stand in a right corner because it is always 90 degrees there! (I know… that one hurt me too).

RACE STARTS AT 5:30 PM. Remember to bring lights if you are cycling home!

Keep your number plate throughout the series even if you are not racing all the races.. Here is the link to the registration, The results for last week are here, and the overall race results are over here.  We have some competition shaping up here.  The division B men is something to watch along with junior men (ages 12-14) and don’t forget the junior women 15-17.  We might have to figure out a tie breaker if this continues!  Way to go! Keep up the good work!  Remember, the series is not over till it’s over so there still can be a shake up.

VOLUNTEER signup (Here is a link to volunteer expectations) and this is a link to general information to bookmark for this season and future news!  We do have a retirement category! Retirement is not retirement, but just the world’s longest coffee break!  Oh yeah, now that it is earlier you can stop by Rockford Coffee and get caffeinated before the race! It might help stay up past your bed time…. but as a retiree you get a guaranteed podium!

What do you get when you cross a donkey with a bike?  You get MULE CROSS!  There is one more weekend of racing at the end of October.

Give the faster riders room to pass.  Watch their lines and practice them.  If you have a bad lap, learn from it, pick better lines, and stay in the game!  It’s not over till it's over.

Thanks all!  Keep bringing the good attitude, competitive spirit, and let’s finish the series strong.  As always rubber side down! It reminds me my friend who walked into a bar…. yeah, he totally lost that limbo contest.  Be safe!

Cheers

Pauly (commemorating my NJ heritage…. great place to be from) (fun fact: when people ask me what brought me out to Montana from NJ I say “WitSec….witness protection/security.  If they have a sense of humor they laugh.  If they don’t then I get entertained by awkward silence.)
