Bon soir mes amis,

I hope this email finds you all healthy and happy.  The committee is very excited to get our little camp going tomorrow morning. The committee is happy that we are having a trial of two camps this year, as the weather forecast for the week looks abysmal. A camp in May is the traditional time for the camp, but it carries the risk of less than ideal weather conditions. But as the committee says, the miles must be ridden, the form improved.

The weather forecast is for a balmy 52 degrees tomorrow at 5:30am

As always, the rides will start at 5:30AM, we will meet in the alley between Owenhouse Cycling and Rockford Coffee Company. We will ride the 50 mile Working Dawgs training loop, the same loop every day. There is a ~ 6 mile section of gravel, please come prepared. There are many places to cut this loop short and return to town early if work, family or life are interfering with your training. We are usually back in town around 8:15-8:30.  Although this is not a no-drop ride, we do stop 3 times to let dropped riders catch back up and to regroup. The link below is for the loop.

Luke Mauritzen will be the ride leader tomorrow,  Monday May  12th. Un grand merci, Luke.   I will see you all on Tuesday May 13th, because your humble domestique is a working dawg.

The committee is pleased to announce that Family Promise is our local charity for fundraising this year. This is an organization that helps many families in the Gallatin Valley in their very important mission.\

Please read below for a summary of their mission and goals

Our vision is  to end homelessness in the Gallatin Valley, one family at a time.

Our mission to empower families experiencing housing insecurities to secure a safe, affordable home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future for their children

Sean Kelly was a Working dawg! He is on his way to winning the 1984 Paris Roubaix in this photo. In the spring of 1984, he won Paris-Nice, was 2nd at Milan-San Remo and Tour of Flanders, won Paris Roubaix and Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Sounds like a current rider...except Kelly never won the worlds or the tour.

I hope you all have a great ride tomorrow.

I will email tomorrow afternoon about Tuesday, the weather looks rough and accommodations may need to be made.

Your humble domestique

Jeff

Bon soir mes amis,

I hope this email finds you all healthy and happy.  The committee is very excited that our little training camp started this morning. We had 5 riders today and the committee offers a big THANKS to Luke Mauritzen for being the ride leader.  The weather forecast for tomorrow, thankfully, is no longer calling for rain. As the committee says, the miles must be ridden, the form improved.

The weather forecast is for a brisk 41 degrees tomorrow at 5:30am without rain. If I wake up at 4:30 and hear rain hitting my skylights, I'm going back to bed and recommend you do the same.

Alfredo Binda was a working Dawg! Winner of the Giro d'Italia in 1925, 27, 28, 29 and 33. Winner of the World Championships in 1927, 30 and 32. Tour of Lombardia in 1925, 26, 27 and 31, Milan San Remo in 1929 and 31. If you rode in the era of otw clips and toe straps, you probably recognize his name. IYKYK

I hope to see. you all tomorrow bright and early

Bonjour mes amis,

Alas, it's lightly raining and the roads are wet at my house, so I'm going back to bed. My apologies to anyone who showed up this morning.

Bonsoir mes amis,

I hope this email finds you all healthy and happy.  The committee is very sorry for the continued bad weather. The weather forecast for tomorrow looks like more rain and wet roads. Jaeson Repscher, John Riley and myself did brave the rain, cold and dark this morning for a mostly dry but occasionally rainy 47  miles. As the committee says, the miles must be ridden, the form improved.

Kudos to John and Jaeson for braving the conditions on Tuesday morning too!!!

The weather forecast according to the weather app on my iPhone is for 38 degrees tomorrow at 5:30am without rain. As always, if I wake up at 4:30 and it's raining, I'm going back to bed and recommend you do the same.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION:
As always, the rides will start at 5:30AM, we will meet in the alley between Owenhouse Cycling and Rockford Coffee Company. We will ride the MODIFIED Working Dawgs training loop. There is no gravel on this loop. I think with all of this rain, avoiding the gravel is a good idea. There are many places to cut this loop short and return to town early if work, family or life are interfering with your training. We are usually back in town around 8:15-8:30.  Although this is not a no-drop ride, we do stop 3 times to let dropped riders catch back up and to regroup. The link below is for the MODIFIED loop.

Greg LeMond was a Working Dawg!!! Here he is winning the World Road championships in 1989, the year of his spectacular comeback from his 1987 hunting accident. This was technically his 3rd world championship. He was also Junior World Champion in 1979, Professional world champion in 1983 at the age of 22. He of Course became the first Male Tour de France Champion in 1986, then again in 1989 and 1990.

I hope to see you all tomorrow and I hope the weather holds in the AM
Your humble domestique
Jeff

In 1989 I was racing in France during LeMonds comeback. This song was very popular!!!
